Surprised nobody mentioned. I know there's some AVGN fans here. Anyway, just came out this month. Looks like a fun little platformer.

It deserves its own thread! 8)

AVGN fans will love all the "inside jokes" that were thrown in here. And you get the play as the Bullshit Man!

I have to say, I've certainly had my share of eye-rolling at the whole AVGN thing in the past. But, James is def a guy who seems to deserve to be in such a game. Good for him.

I've always thought that was weird. You both have very similar interests (retro games, horror, TMNT, etc) yet you don't seem to be a fan at all. I can pretty much assume you just aren't a fan of the poop humor and the negative nature of most of his reviews and stuff though.

The first thing I saw was his Friday the 13th episode, and I enjoyed it. I watched more, and found some episodes really lazy in that most "jokes" were him just cursing that a game was hard. But don't be fooled, I've subscribed for quite a while. And I probably enjoy his videos where it's just James and his friend playing games as themselves (recently VCS titles) more than AVGN. Knowing more about James Rolfe, I really admire him. More than anything my annoyance came from a period where it seemed that a lot of his fans didn't get the shtick. They seemed to think that his videos were to be taken at a face value. Like if he dissed a game, they thought it sucked CUZ AVGN SAID SO! Which is lame. But I agree - we have a lot of similar taste. And even the poop humor doesn't bother me. I watched the Lloyd Kaufman episode with glee. It was gross and stupid. But as a guy who grew up on Troma and read both of Lloyd's books, I felt so happy for James. I could tell he was just so excited to be hanging out with a hero. In a sense, I think sometimes I come off as a bit overly harsh when I talk about AVGN because I feel like James is capable of such great things.

If that all makes sense?

As I've said before, his best stuff is where he speaks positively of games.

Check out the Castlevania episodes, noise.

I agree, I much prefer when he reviews things or waxes nostalgic as James Rolfe and not the AVGN character.

His truly best stuff:

I don't care for his shit shtick, but he is well-informed and has generally good opinions. Despite not really caring for AVGN, I think I'd get along swimmingly with James Wolfe, were we ever to meet.
