Surprised nobody mentioned. I know there's some AVGN fans here. Anyway, just came out this month. Looks like a fun little platformer.

I've always thought that was weird. You both have very similar interests (retro games, horror, TMNT, etc) yet you don't seem to be a fan at all. I can pretty much assume you just aren't a fan of the poop humor and the negative nature of most of his reviews and stuff though.noiseredux wrote:I have to say, I've certainly had my share of eye-rolling at the whole AVGN thing in the past
The first thing I saw was his Friday the 13th episode, and I enjoyed it. I watched more, and found some episodes really lazy in that most "jokes" were him just cursing that a game was hard. But don't be fooled, I've subscribed for quite a while. And I probably enjoy his videos where it's just James and his friend playing games as themselves (recently VCS titles) more than AVGN. Knowing more about James Rolfe, I really admire him. More than anything my annoyance came from a period where it seemed that a lot of his fans didn't get the shtick. They seemed to think that his videos were to be taken at a face value. Like if he dissed a game, they thought it sucked CUZ AVGN SAID SO! Which is lame. But I agree - we have a lot of similar taste. And even the poop humor doesn't bother me. I watched the Lloyd Kaufman episode with glee. It was gross and stupid. But as a guy who grew up on Troma and read both of Lloyd's books, I felt so happy for James. I could tell he was just so excited to be hanging out with a hero. In a sense, I think sometimes I come off as a bit overly harsh when I talk about AVGN because I feel like James is capable of such great things.brunoafh wrote:I've always thought that was weird. I agree, I much prefer when he reviews things or waxes nostalgic as James Rolfe and not the AVGN character.BoneSnapDeez wrote:As I've said before, his best stuff is where he speaks positively of games.
Check out the Castlevania episodes, noise.
