I have a bit of an odd situation that I need some help with. I have a Xbox 1.6 that I've been using for years. It has an Aladdin XenoFX Modchip and massive 750 GB IDE harddrive installed.
Unfortunately, I seem to have blown some surface mounted fuse that controls the fan. To get the fan spinning, I stole power from the harddrive, which means the fan runs at 100% speed at all given times.
I have another xbox, a 1.4 that's been softmodded and still has its stock 8GB HDD. I would like to make that Xbox my main system by transferring over the huge 750 GB harddrive.
So what's the best solution now in 2012? Should I go with a modchip? If so, which one? The only thing I care about is being able to access my entire 750 GB drive, even if I have to format it when I move it.
Any recommended programs or modchip names would be appreciated. Thanks.

Why don't you just replace the fuse? Even surface mounted ones aren't that hard to replace.

because the fuse in question is downright microscopic, and I'd also like to someday preform the 128MB RAM mod on my 1.4, impossible on the 1.6.
So basically my question is what is the best modchip to go with? I'm thinking of going with the DuoX-2 GS. Anyone have any thoughts?

How difficult is it to install?
Is it solder in and then it just works?

It wasn't too bad. The d0 point was the toughest but I found an alternate point that was slightly easier but still, it was tough. The LPC header was easy other than desoldering/cleaning out the holes.
Re: Original Xbox Modchips - Need advice
just TSOP flash the 1.4. all you need to do is solder 2 point together and if you can't solder you can always use this http://www.radioshack.com/product/index ... Id=3964901
Then use hexen disc to flash the TSOP with a 256kb BIOS.

PSone, Xbox, PS2, DC, SS Mod Service, PM for details
