Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I haven't been consistently impressed with Barack, but one of the reasons I voted for him was because he promised to do this, so respect where it's due. 8)

Better late than never, I guess.

Does that mean they the US is about to strike Iran in one way or another, soon?

It means the US is going to draw down the military for a bit. One thing that the US has learned since 2001 is that the rules have changed when it comes to fielding a conventional army.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Truth. Just use NATO instead! :D

But seriously, with the US economy how it is, how can they afford to be at war so often now?

Depends on the war. Currently we spend far too much per soldier to maintain a forward deployed force. We also lack the political will to ask the average citizens to pay any money for the wars we engage in, choosing instead to throw the cost of the war straight onto the deficit instead.

Previous conflicts weren't nearly so expensive, though. All in all, I am glad we're going to draw this conflict down. I personally never believed we had any justification for invading Iraq.

Come back home, and then let us focus on fixing the US.

Yup. Expect to hear a lot of "I was the one who..."

And although health care and the economy is in the dumps, Obama is pretty good at picking off infamous bad guys.

I'm being flippant. Well, not totally, but it's good to hear our troops will be coming home.

I couldn't agree with you more on all these points.
