Hey,
So as an American, we missed out on a few Sega Saturn games, the one I am most curious about is Deep Fear. i have been trying to locate a PAL copy for around a year online, but Have yet to actually find one. I have heard tales that it can sell for over $100 if you can even find it. This is quite expensive for a game i have never played. However, I see Japanese copies on ebay all the time for around $20. I want to pick it up, but I wanted to know how much of it is actually in English. Someone once mentioned it was almost completley in English. Will I be able to understand the story and menu's assuming I have no Japanese experience? Thanks!
Deep Fear for English Speakers?
Re: Deep Fear for English Speakers?
as far as i can tell the J version has menus and subtitles during game play that are in Japanese.

Judging by this video, I think you would actually be able to make your way through it -- all speech is in English (Japanese subtitles), area names come up in both English and Japanese, and the menu is in English. There are some yes or no questions that come up in full Japanese (memorize what "hai" [yes] and "iie" [no] look like in Japanese and you should be able to make your way through based on context -- http://translate.google.com/#en|ja|%28yes%29%20%28no%29). At around $15 bucks, you should get your money's worth, plus it's a pretty cool novelty playing through a clearly Japanese release of a title if you haven't ever done that before.

Thanks for the info guys, I think thats good enough for me to go get it on ebay. It wouldn't be my first Japanese game, I got Panzer Dragoon Saga in Japanese about a decade ago and beat that....didn't know what the heck was going on, but it was still fun. I was taking Japanese at the time, So i made it through the menus alright. I just want to know whats going on this time around.
