I love the social features but I am afraid Nintendo will implement badly again. No mention on friend codes going extinct so I am afraid they will still exist.

Also they said that you won't be able to access Miiverse from other devices till months after the Wii U's launch and I believe that is really a lot opportunity. I think they just release Miiverse on 3DS, PC and smartphones BEFORE the Wii U launch, to hype up the machine.

I'm pretty sure 3DS already dropped friend codes?

They still have friend codes, but they span across all your games, so once you add a friend, you can play them at any game you both have without using another.

Not sure how relevant it would be, since it more or less seems like Nintendo is just making a Twitter/comment system with feeds bound to individual game titles and regions (and the ability to make video calls to random commenters no way that could ever get annoying  ). Without games, what purpose would it serve?

They could maybe reinstitute the NSider forums, or some other official forums, considering they don't even have those right now outside of a tech support board.

Well that's an improvement

Guess I was wrong

...friend codes themselves are still kinda antiquated. I wonder why they won't just have an account based thing?

Though I could be wrong, I'm not sure how the Miiverse stuff would work without an account based system.

I thought I heard a while back that the Wii U would be using actual accounts thanks to the Nintendo Network. The 3DS just unfortunately came out before Nintendo had this revelation.
