That last stat is crazy. This could explain some of the cold decisions made in the business world. Also, they went over how well these individuals hide their disorder so these stats are likely low.
Wouldn't it be scarier if the percentage were lower? That is, 96% of people in corporate management are not psychopaths, but they still make "cold decisions" despite fully comprehending the effects of their actions.
Not a bad point! Essentially they got into the fact that psychopaths are very good at acting & how that fits the corporate mold well.

Jagosaurus, you might want to check out a book called The Psychopath Test: A Journey through the Madness Industry by Jon Ronson. He also has a TED talk on the topic.

Psychopaths usually do understand the effects of their own actions. They just don't care, unless they are negatively affected. I also think they are capable of a form of empathy that allows them to know how to hurt people most sadistically. They just don't feel particularly bad about it. My second statement is more controversial. This isn't my main focus in psychology though, so I concede my experience is limited.

I understand completely. Psychopaths do, however, have some modicum of an excuse for cruelty based on an inalterable personality disorder. Everyone else lacks this excuse, and my point is simply that we should not underestimate the capacity for evil within loving, perfectly normal, well-adjusted people nor attribute all acts of cruelty or wickedness to people with a form of mental illness.

(IMO, most people are basically good, and we should not underestimate their capacity for that either. People being basically decent, however, is not very spooky, and we there is no need to discuss that point on this thread. )

You should probably also note that not all sadists are psychopaths, but I don't know if anyone has ever studied the number of sadists in corporate leadership positions.

They mentioned a famous book on the subject, might've been that one but not 100% sure. They discussed the check list & thats where the stats I referenced came from.

Another interesting tid bit is the notion they do typically get attached to a person (or group). This can turn into a seemingly nomal marriage (on the surface) or an unhealthy infatuation with a random contact.

I can't even begin to describe how dumb most of my GM's have been, but the last one at CVS (call center/warehouse, non-retail) took the cake. He just walked around with his coffee and didn't even know how to help the packers stack boxes if we were behind schedule. Always heard about him golfing as it seemed he only worked half weeks. You could just tell the dude never worked for a dime in his life and was handed over the lottery. Such people wouldn't last a day in a Mad Max world.

watched Sinister c/o jp1. I did not expect this to be so scary. Impressed. My only complaints are that Ethan Hawk did stupid shit that I would not do in the situation... like power goes out and low banging in the attic; lemme go investigate w/ just my cellphone for light. Fuck that. And I also don't like overuse of LOUD NOISES to evoke scares. That's cheap. But the story was good and the snuff films that he found were absolutely horrifying.

Believe it or not I didn't see the first Scream til it hit VHS. Then I was in love. I saw the second in the theater opening night with a girl who claimed she liked horror movies... until the movie started and was terrified. Ah, high school. Scream 2 is not great (Scream 1 and 4 are great... 2 and 3 are good). But it is a Wes Craven movie written by Kevin Williamson starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and with Everclear on the soundtrack. 90's noise couldn't ask for much more. And to a degree, neither could 2016 noise. So this still holds a special place in my heart.

Nice, sounds like the Scream sequels aren't too shabby. Expectations aren't high but if they're fun that's all I need.

The first movie is incredible. One of my fav slashers of all time.

Second is... good. Pokes fun at sequels, sort of nods that it knows it's part of a planned trilogy. Nothing special really. But fun.

Third is mostly a bad movie except it has a sort of self-awareness even beyond the first two and plays with a movie-within-a-movie premise.

Fourth is fucking amazing and is almost ALMOST on par with the first.

That said, they are all worth seeing in order of release to fully enjoy the series I think.
