PC-FX, Amiga CD32, and other assorted sexiness

Yes I have a Canadian CD32.

The PAL/NTSC issues with the CD32 have always confused me as well. Googling doesn't seem to help much, so maybe someone like Spoony can clarify?

It's a hard system to enjoy.

Mine came with 10-12 'games'. And that's all I have for the system. I could only assume that they were purchased with the system, although i've never bothered to really look into it. Everything I received with the system works.

I know there are a lot of people out there that have problems running PAL units on NTSC televisions. Or PAL games on NTSC consoles. Information is kind of sparce, but i'm fairly certain you can force most games to boot through software, and I think you can overcome some of the color issues using a PAL unit on an NTSC television with a SCART to VGA/HDMI converter. Obviously i've never had this issue, owning an NTSC unit, so take that advice with a grain of salt.

They turned up after packages were sent, so I still have a few, uh, shiny CD32 themed coasters sitting here from that madness. As I recall I asked Bone if he wanted them and he declined. If anyone wants them just shout for postage or to be included for any other trade coming from my direction.

Bone, I'd be interested in finding out if Blue Breaker on the FX is much different from the version on the Saturn.

Information is kind of sparce, but i'm fairly certain you can force most games to boot through software, and I think you can overcome some of the color issues using a PAL unit on an NTSC television with a SCART to VGA/HDMI converter. Exactly the same questions/concerns I've had. Several games I'd like to try but would be hunting the PAL games, trying to run on a NTSC system. IIRC the trick is to get a mouse, and hold both buttons in the BIOS, and it allows you to chose a region. This would only make the software region free though (nothing to do with system compatibility on TVs, and of course nothing to do with the power difference).... even then I read some accounts of the PAL games booting fine this way on a NTSC system but other games are not full screen, wavy, or black & white. Too pricey to roll the dice without some kind of list to reference.

Has a list of compatibility issues for most of the Amiga Cd library. Under TV green N means the game runs fine on NTSC, yellow N means some issues but playable and a red N means not playable. Click on individual games and it will sometimes list a breakdown of what issues arise.

Though the CD32 was released in North America (Canada) I'm assuming that there weren't actually any NTSC games produced? Is this correct?

GameFAQs lists nothing but EU titles.

Virtually every eBay seller of CD32 stuff is from Europe.
