Bayonets eh? Next time I visit my Father I have to take a picture of his Revolutionary War rifle with bayonet. Took him decades to find the rifle, and at least another decade to find the right bayonet. Sucker is probably eighteen to twenty four inches, and it is blunt and nasty. It's been a while since I've seen it, but I believe rifle + bayonet = over six feet in length.
Not a replica either...I really need to visit Mom and Pop soon.

... I think it's a requirement here in Texas. Didn't they teach you that in DFWdsheinem wrote:So am I the only one around here who doesn't carry a knife or gun on my person?

Re: Anybody Into Collecting Knives?
Any1 ever buy from Wild Bills Wholesale Knives online? Man, they've got some awesome deals. A 14" Bowie knife for $14! I'm eying a crossbow lol...
Luke, even some kitchen knives on the cheap, name brand.
-------
Edit: posting a few of my favorites in my collection.
Case silver dollar limited edition. Worth $125+.

Colt makes good knives also:

Fixed blade buck knife I got off a guy who needed cash. 93% chance it was used in a crime. 100% chance it cleaned a deer.

I hope I'm set for life as far as kitchen knives go, and I hope to pass them on to my son or daughter one day. I think I've actually gone overboard as all I really need is my cleaver and pairing knives. With both, cutting through cabbage is like cutting warmed butter.Jagosaurus wrote:Any1 ever buy from Wild Bills Wholesale Knives online? Man, they've got some awesome deals. I prefer a 3.5" pairing knife and 8-10" Cleaver. And 8" chef's knife is also a thing of beauty, but the cleaver is more versatile. If you are clever with a cleaver you can mince garlic in three seconds and peel carrots in less than five seconds.

When making stir fry, yes. I try to use only one knife per job, and you'd be surprised what I can do with a cleaver.Ivo wrote: You peel carrots with a cleaver??

I can only imagine setting the carrot up vertically as if it was a wood log, and chopping out a piece of it with the peel...Luke wrote:When making stir fry, yes. I try to use only one knife per job, and you'd be surprised what I can do with a cleaver.Ivo wrote: You peel carrots with a cleaver??
I like to use peelers for carrots and potatoes, I can do it much faster without worrying about cutting myself.

Chop both ends off, lay the carrot flat, start with the cleaver at the top end, gently slide down the cleaver to peel. Rotate, repeat.

Re: Anybody Into Collecting Knives?
Hard to believe, but I've actually sold off most of my knives since I last posted in this thread. Now all I have are a few Spyderco's, a Kershaw Zing Tanto, Buck Vantage and a couple of Victorinos SAK's.
The main thing I'm waiting for now are the Spyderco Kitchen knives. They're supposed to start producing them again, and I don't plan on missing out this time.
