Were the posts you checked in threads you hadn't read? In all 4 themes the "first unread" link is towards the top right of the page ↗

Found it. I was just being dumb and looking in the wrong place.

I might be a pain in the ass for requesting spoilers inside of spoilers, and now this, but...

I might have already brought this up, but I forget.

When you use URL tags for a link inside of a quote header, the text is almost impossible to see. Example:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Nintendo_Entertainment_System wrote:The Super Nintendo Entertainment System is Nintendo's second home console, following the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The console introduced advanced graphics and sound capabilities compared with other consoles at the time.
If you go to color the text white, it breaks the URL. Example:
[color=#FFFFFF]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Nintendo_Entertainment_System[/color] wrote:The Super Nintendo Entertainment System is Nintendo's second home console, following the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The console introduced advanced graphics and sound capabilities compared with other consoles at the time.
If you put the color tags outside of the URL tags, the link will still work but it doesn't color the text. I guess it's in the code for links to be that color, so putting color tags around URL tags doesn't have any effect.

I know this is a stupid problem, probably no one cares, and it's probably a bunch of headache code nonsense, but I just thought I'd bring it up.

It isn't hard to read in the forum layout I'm using since the bar isn't blue, so that just seems to be an issue with that particular layout since unread links are blue. Though I don't see why you'd want to put the link in reply quote name. Why not just link inside the quote? I'd think this is not a trivial thing to work into the board code.

Yeah, I figured it would be different on the other board schemes (I didn't bother to check). I just use the default one, as I think most others do too.

I know I can just put the link inside the quote, I just feel it's more organized to put it in the bar. Maybe I'm just crazy.

Honestly, I have no real idea about how to alter such things in the board code. I just thought it was worth a mention in the case that it would only take adding and/or altering a few lines of code or something. But if it's something that's not easy, yeah, I can totally understand it not being high on the priority list. Or even making the list, for that matter.

edit: For the record, it actually works fine in EVERY other board layout, just not the default one since the quote bars are black.

Have we ever taking a poll to see what layout every one is using? I gotta be honest, most of the reason why I never switch from the default layout is because all the others seem less polished.

There is a first unread icon and link:

I use them all the time. Is there something else you are looking for?
Wow, that tiny icon? I had no idea that could even be clicked. Thanks for pointing it out though!

The default and, uh, the one Dave uses (I'm too lazy to check) are more polished. I use Subsilver2 because it doesn't restrict the width to where is it only a 1/3 column of my screen and I like the color scheme better. It never got the header stuff really set so it has the PHPBB logo and plaintext for Racketboy.

GlossyBlue is by far the most polished of the layouts. AcidTech has that nice white-on-black thing going but the header's a little messed up and nearly everyone's avatars are configured for GlossyBlue so you get grey boxes around everything.
