1. Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES)
2. Chrono Trigger (SNES)
3. Sonic the Hedgehog (Gen)
4. The Legend of Zelda (NES)
5. Super Mario Kart (SNES)
6. Double Dragon (NES)
7. Metroid Prime (GC)
8. Tetris Attack (SNES)
9. Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus (PS2)
10. Duck Tales (NES)

I would ditch Tetris Attack. It's a great game, but probably the least 'classic' of the bunch.

As for which F-Zero to play, GX on Gamecube is probably the fan favourite, but I'd probably recommend X on N64 for a first timer - GX will feel like a bigger step up, it's a game that really shows off the system (the graphics are dull, but the speed and frame rate are great) and it's still awesome. The original on SNES is also a great choice as the first in the series, and has aged surprisingly well. Ignore the GBA ones. They're great, but not really often considered when discussing the series. Play them outside of the summer challenge.

I played Golden Axe 3 some last night. Ended up getting a game over at the final level. Shouldn't be a problem to finish this one off.

I also started Harvest Moon GBC today. I discovered that the game actually takes a minimum of two years to complete, and not one as I first thought.

This isn't a problem and shouldn't take too long, particularly since this game is quite simple compared to others in the series. I did want to get going on it though.

I'm actually playing it on my Game Boy Color too (as opposed to using a GB Player or something), which I haven't touched in a very long time.

Yeah, its not so hot.

I guess I'm just feeling kinda nostalgic. As I recall I haven't used this thing since the GBA (with its own awful screen) came out.

Yeah, that was a good call. Although I do like the remake, the original Rondo of Blood is probably my favorite game in the series, of the games I've played.

Finished Dragon Quest's short but sweet campaign. I haven't zoomed through an RPG like that in probably, like, ever. I have no qualms with a game being on the shorter side, as long as it accomplishes its goal, and I feel good about what Dragon Quest did. Granted I played the updated version, because RPGs on the NES make me squirm--the notable, and peculiar exception being FF II. That probably increased my enjoyment. Also: Oh my god, that music. Even makes me forget how much I hate the SNES sound chip. I need to remember to keep Sugiyama Koichi on my shortlist of people to have write a soundtrack to my life.

So I'll have to move onto Dragon Quest II, which seems equally promising, but I'll probably have to throw in RE 2 or Dynamite Deka first, to keep from fizzling out.

I started on Warriors of Fate ll tonight. Initial thoughts: this definitely isn't a beat-em-up you run through.

Plus the game has no problem regularly throwing like 8 or more enemies at you at one time.
I got to Stage 8 which from the map looks to be the 2nd to last area. So I figure I should beat it over the weekend.

My goal is to beat it on a dollar's worth of credits, since that was usually what I would limit myself to when I was younger.

All this RPG talk makes me want to pick one. But I know if I do than it'll probably end up like last year, with me only managing to finish one game (not that FF IV wasn't worth it.) I was sort of hoping to make it to last years goal of 3 games this year (I'll never make it to 10), but I'm afraid if I start an RPG I'll run out of time.

Since I havent started yet (until last night) I want to edit and finalize my list.
Original List
Classics
1. Ducktales (NES)
2. Lunar Silver Star Harmony (PSP) - The original is a classic, so this should count. I already started in May and have 3hrs in
3. Shining Force III (Saturn - Its a 60+ hour games and I have 20hrs in so I consider it fair game for this challenge)
4. QuackShot (Gen)
5. Adventures of Batman and Robin (SNES)
6. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (PC)
7. Wonder Boy in Monster World (Gen)

Not Classics that I want to beat before summer ends
8. God of War (PS3 HD)
9. Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions (PS3)
10. Enslaved: Odyssey to the West (PS3)
I am removing Lunar, SF3, and Enslaved from the list.
Lunar because handheld RPGs are not conducive to short burst play time. I have beat Lunar before and have avoided playing because I knew I was near a cut scene that I would not be able to watch or have time for at that moment. This has ruined my motivation to play it.
I took SF3 off the list because, I need to be "into" playing that game to enjoy it. Right now, and for the last month;hence the reason I stopped and was planing on continuing, I am not motivated to play.
I also removed Enslaved. I always consider Enslaved when picking a new game to play, yet always end up choosing another game. I thought that putting it on my list will force me to play it... so I am removing it just in case I decide to skip over it again.

Here is the new, and final, list

Classics
1. Ducktales (NES)
2. QuackShot (Gen)
3. Adventures of Batman and Robin (SNES)
4. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (PC)
5. Wonder Boy in Monster World (Gen)
6. Star Wars: KOTOR (XBOX)
7. Streets of Rage (Gen)
8. Streets of Rage (Gen)
9. God of War (PS3 HD) -classic designation per dsh :D

Not Classics that I want to beat before summer ends
10. Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions (PS3)

I added KOTOR because I wanted a RPG and ever since my wife and I watched all six movies last weekend, and because I have started the game many times and have not beaten it, I wanted to play this game through from start to finish.
I started playing this last night and found myself stuck playing pazaak for over 45 minutes.
I added Streets of Rage 1 and 2 because I normally have an old school beat-em up and an arcade game; this year I had neither.

Booger, if you have any issues with Fate of Atlantis I can talk you through it. I know that game exceptionally well - I play it every other year if not every year and have for twenty years.
