1. Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES)
2. Chrono Trigger (SNES)
3. Sonic the Hedgehog (Gen)
4. The Legend of Zelda (NES)
5. Super Mario Kart (SNES)
6. Double Dragon (NES)
7. Metroid Prime (GC)
8. Tetris Attack (SNES)
9. Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus (PS2)
10. Duck Tales (NES)
I would ditch Tetris Attack. It's a great game, but probably the least 'classic' of the bunch.
As for which F-Zero to play, GX on Gamecube is probably the fan favourite, but I'd probably recommend X on N64 for a first timer - GX will feel like a bigger step up, it's a game that really shows off the system (the graphics are dull, but the speed and frame rate are great) and it's still awesome. The original on SNES is also a great choice as the first in the series, and has aged surprisingly well. Ignore the GBA ones. They're great, but not really often considered when discussing the series. Play them outside of the summer challenge.
