I can attest to Ratchet & Clank, and Uncharted being awesome series to play, i started with Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, and will go to A Crack in Time next.

This is something ive been thinking about, what would people consider to be the best PSN exclusives (or XBLA) to get on PS3.

I really need to rake in a lot because I have a sinking feeling that i'm going to have some trouble finding games at cheap prices, if I find any old games at all. It's easier to find Xbox and PS2 era games but i'm not interested in them (well some PS2 games I am interested in). Around here there are not a lot of retro gamers or if they are retro gamers, no way in hell are they going to sell you anything, or they want an arm and a leg for something. So i'm going to need a lot of money because I might end up just buying stuff on Ebay...i'm tired of haggling with assholes who think their beat up shitty games are gold and i'm tired of getting to a sale to late to only have someone say "Oh I just sold that".

*sigh* It's enough to make one want to give up collecting.
I'm thinking what games does she want that are so much money? Does she want the very rare games or something?
11. Buy Earthbound
Ahhh i see now
12. Try to make a MAME cab with Dad
Sounds like the perfect father daughter activity.
Well I don't want only rare games, but in Seattle if you want good games you go to a game store, pawn shop or ebay and their prices are...horrible. So I end up paying top dollar for a game..not worth that much. It's horrible but I live in a city with video game history...we have many collectors here and i'm going up against them trying to find games in thrift stores/yard sales and so on.

And yeah...me and my dad arn't "close" like most people are with their parents...i've never gotten along with him...but I figured maybe doing a big project that would combine his skills with power tools to build the cab, and my "skills" with computers would maybe bridge the massive gap between us. If nothing else, at least once he's gone I can look at the cab and maybe have a good memory of him.

Also Mas...dude gimmy some of your games. Do you know how many Dreamcast games I own? One. BECAUSE IT'S A RARE SYSTEM AROUND HERE!!!! It drives me crazy how rare it is...idk why it's rare.

Hm... my gaming goals are in the air a bit for this year. It looks like I'll be moving to Japan in early August, and I plan to spend most of my time up to that point on a music project that I would pretty much have to finish while I'm still in Nashville. I also have a ton of responsibilities as head of a student organization, language tutor, graduating senior, et cetera beforehand, so it's hard to set many ambitious gaming goals. I do have a few, though...

-Improve Japanese skills.-

I'm interested in this more for life reasons, but as a nice bonus, it will definitely open up some unique gaming experiences for me.

Although this will probably have to wait until next year given my current skills, I plan on completing Final Fantasy VII in Japanese. Although I could read on a basic level before I played Final Fantasy VII as a seven-year-old in 1997 (lots of sevens in that sentence), my fascination with the title drove me to rapidly learn how to read at a high-school level level way, way before I should have been ready. I sat with a PlayStation controller and an adult nearby to ask question after question about the meanings of this or that word, occasionally getting an odd look when I asked about "Shinra", "Midgar", or "Mako Energy". Although I certainly recognize the game's flaws when I force myself to, nostalgia renders me incapable of even kind of caring. I'd love to sit with a dictionary and make my way through this old favorite once more.

-Play one or two of the great RPG's-

It was a half-year long effort, but I finally plunked enough hours into Skies of Arcadia here and there to 100% it in 2013. Next, I'm looking to sink time into either Final Fantasy VI, Xenogears, or Earthbound. Right now I'm thinking Final Fantasy VI -- in fact, I'm going to jump into it right after I post this comment.

-Play one or two of the great survival horror games-

I've played precious few video games that would qualify as horror, but I've recently I've picked up copies of Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, and Fatal Frame 2, though, and am itching to try them out.

-Beat Ikaruga

I'm very, very close to getting good enough, but not quite.

3. Finally push through both Nectaris: Military Madness (PS1) and Return Fire (PS1) ( I respect both game immensely - and I have sunk hours into each one - I just do not have the will power to finish them, however.)

4. Finish collecting at least one sub-set of 2600 games (I suspect I will acquire the rest of the Activision "standard label" games at some point this year.)

5. Acquire a PSP and mod it

6. Acquire an Atari 7800

7. Finish off one of my collection (I only need to 21 games to complete my N64 collection and 41 games to finish off my Xbox collection. None of the games I require are particularly expensive; so, I suspect that - with a few internet purchaes - I can finish off one or the other before the end of the year.)

8. Continue to amass PS3 and Wii games (It is currently a great time to be buying used games for those systems.)

9. "Complete" all of the games in my collection that missing their manuals (15 games in my collection are missing their manuals, and it is driving me CRAZY!)

10. Photograph my collection and post the pictures to the forums (For most of my collection, this will not be that hard. I just need to do it.)

11. Grab all of the game I want from PSN and WiiWare store while they are still available

12. Play through all of the non-RPG games in one or more of my collections (This is a long-shot, but I do not think it would be that difficult for me to play through all of the non-RPG games in my 3DS, Gameboy, or Wii collections.)
One down! :D

Among other things, I picked copies of Fire Fly (2600) and Tomcat: The F-14 Fighter Simulator (2600) from a pawn shop this morning, rounding out my Absolute Entertainment and Mythicon subsets in one fell swoop. (The Absolute Entertainment subset includes Pete Rose Baseball, Skate Boardin', Title Match Pro Wrestling, and Tomcat: The F-14 Fighter SImulator. The Mythicon subset includes Fire Fly, Sorcerer, and Star Fox.)

I also realized that I already had all of the games published by American Videogames (i.e., Tax Avoiders), and I also have all of the EPYX games (i.e., California Games, Summer Games, and Winter Games). Accordingly, this morning's acquisitions bring my number of completed 2600 sub-sets to four. Moreover, since I need only one Activision "standard label" game (Crackpots) and one CBS game (Tunnel Runner), I suspect that I will be able to bring the number of completed sub-sets to six by the end of the year.

On a somewhat related note, I continue to get good prices on used PS3 and Wii games. (I grabbed MvC3 (PS3) and Sakura Wars (Wii) this weekend); so, I am confident that I will accomplish my eighth goal. I added a lot of games to my N64 and Xbox want lists; however, so I am now slightly further away from accomplishing my seventh goal than I was a few months ago... :?

That's some good progress seeing as how it's still only January.

I love Activision Atari carts, but hate the label mottling (yes that's the word for it).

I forgot to write this in my initial post, but I hope to play through a few of the more obscure PlayStation RPGs this year - games like Wild Arms, Thousand Arms, Kartia...

1) To get back into gaming after a year of playing almost nothing other than the occasional round of TF2 and Gmod (God damn it social life)
2) To get a decent CRT setup
3) To get some form of fight stick for my Wii and Dreamcast

Starting of Small.

I love Wario Land, prfsnl. Shake It! is classic 2D platforming refined. This is one of the finest old school games for wii. What are you waiting for? Play Shake It! right now. Wario Land VB is a good game on a bad system. VB is closest to the original Gameboy Wario Land. I would say just play this one via emulation to spare yourself the physical pain.

I wish I was even this close to my Dad. When I call, he doesn't answer the phone.

Your options are limited here. If you had said a fight stick for Playstation 2, you would have countless options. For Dreamcast, there's the Agetec Stick and not much else outside custom options from MAS and Tank. For Wii, there's the Hori EX2 and the Tatsunoko vs Capcom stick by Mad Katz.

1. Spend less time on websites like this and more time actually playing video games.
2. Make it through the entirety of at least one Zelda game. They always put me off when I'm a little bit more than half way in. I don't know why, cause I look back at all the games with fond memories.
3. Buy a Famicom Disk system.
4. Avoid spending too much money on cool things like Famicom Disk Systems.
5. Sit down and finish Ys III.
6. Force my girlfriend to enjoy a video game that isn't Spryo. I think I'll try Pacman Vs. That one is undeniable fun for all.
7. Learn more Kanji and grammars so I can start playing the unimported Dragon Quest games gahhhslfjda;jfkl.
8. Attend a game conference? Maybe? Sort of? Nah. I don't know. Gaming has always been my "guilty pleasure." I've only got one other friend who's interested in retro games.. but not as interested as any of the people here. I mean, he's definitely not interested enough to post on a forum dedicated to retro gaming.
9. Ohohoh, buy one of those neat SNES styled Hori pads for the Gamecube.
10. Don't abandon my poor villagers in Animal Crossing. I always end up forgetting about the poor fuckers.
