Back in 2009/10/11 (before I was a member here) I was BIG into emulation. Emulators for every system. Thousands of ROMs. USB adapters for SNES and N64 controllers (and I didn't even own a N64 console!). The whole nine yards. Eventually the collecting bug bit me though.

So yeah, nowadays I own many RPGs that I've never actually beaten in cart form but instead completed with SNES9X. Seiken Densetsu 3, Star Ocean, Tales of Phantasia - just to name a few.
I feel ya. I have a couple like that myself; SNES-wise, I've only beaten Soul Blazer in ZSNES.

Roughly how far in did you get with Neugier? I need to pick it back up to play it properly, but there's so much on my plate these days that I hardly have time for an RPG.

I honestly can't remember how much progress I made. I do recall enjoying it. I adore action-RPGs from the 8 and 16-bit era.

I should really get to finishing it. From what I've read it's as short as many of the Ys games (<10 hours). And of course now I can play it in English with the Retron 5.

I played a bit today. I had to surrender the controller though. My daughter loves the damn thing. So many buttons!

What I played was okay.... Still getting used to the controls. This is a European game, huh? It has to be.

In any event, this is my first Jaguar game ever. Hopefully more will follow. I'm also now the proud owner of 6 out of 8 of the Atari systems (not counting various iterations and whatnot) though I doubt I'll ever own a Jaguar CD or ST.
Yeah guessed it, Zool was the pseudo Amiga mascot for a bit before going multi platform. Think Gex on 3DO.

I have a lot of fun with the console. I own right at half of the Jaguar library before the JTS/Atari merger (at 21 games). Several titles were released after the console was considered open source (see Iron Soldier 2 & Worms by TeleGames).

The homebrew community is very active porting games that were in procress (see Total Carnage), unfinished games (see Sky Hammer), & all new games (see Elansar) on carts, the Jag CD & Skunk Board (think of a flash based everdrive). Many ST titles are available this way on the Jag to download for free (JCD or Skunk needed).

I'd recommend Super Burnout as your second Jag purchase. Programmed by a two man team! Shows the sprite scaling ability & processing power of the system. My favorite racing arcade style title to this day!

Ah yeah, RB did this to me too. I was big into NES/SNES emulation now this site and the Retron 5 has had me put down major bucks on the real things.

Yup, developed by Gremlin (UK). I know them more from Top Gear 1 & 2, although I did play the PC demo of the first Zool. It's something else.

Today was my last new console for a long while. So, here is my haul...

- Ristar (Genesis)

- XBOX Console
- 2 Microsoft XBOX S Controllers
- Memory Card
- Beyond Good & Evil
- Crimson Skies
- Doom 3
- Half-Life 2
- Halo: Combat Evolved
- Mafia
- Max Payne
- Metal Arms: Glitch in the System
- The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
- Project Gotham Racing
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
- Sudeki
- Syberia

Ristar was the most expensive, but the most expensive game for the XBOX was Doom 3 and that was the Limited Collector's Edition that I payed $18. The most expensive XBOX game that I found was Knights of the Old Republic 2 and that was $25. So, XBOX games are super cheap and very easy to come by.

However, the console itself, controllers and Memory Card are another story. Working XBOX's are hard to come by as most of them have tray problems in opening and closing them. First party controllers are hard to find and so is the Memory Card.

But if you are looking for cheap XBOX games to play, they are out there. After scoffing the system for many years, I was quite amazed at how many good games are out there that I wanted. It is very much a worthwhile system!

There is also the fact that the 360 has compatibility with about 50% of the Xbox library so they are nice games to have especially if you find them cheap. Also means they will hold value alot longer.

Now that you have an Xbox get the Splinter Cell games, they are gorgeous and pushed the box to its limits, especially Chaos Theory. That game looks good enough to be an early 360 game. They can all be found for less than $5 each, and really hold up graphically.

They're also cheap on the Gamecube too. Fine games. The later ones in the series are only better because no abrupt mission ending situations.

There is also the Splinter Cell Trilogy HD Collection on PS3 Amazon has it for $16.88 shipped right now. No clue why it didn't get a 360 release might have to pick it up even though I have the PC box set.
