I bought the classic Final Fantasy VI for the SuperFami, just cause it's so damn cheap.
Question for those fluent in English *and* Japanese - do you guys appreciate the US or JP versions of games more? I know this can vary depending on how well the translations have been done, but anyone have an opinion? Do you find either language "prettier," so to speak?
What RPG are you playing right now?

I've played both. I prefer the American translation.
Ted Woolsey was a phenomenal translator. His dialogue changes only occurred when contextually appropriate and he always kept the original story completely intact.

Good to know I don't need to drop the cash on Centy. I refer to them as Story of Thor BC its easier to remember LOL "Beyond" sounds like a sequel to meBoneSnapDeez wrote:You mean Beyond Oasis?Jagosaurus wrote: Bonez, have you played Legend of Oasis? Which of these two would you say wins the "Zelda clone" battle on Genesis?Legend of Oasis is the sequel on the Saturn.
But yeah, Oasis is about 100 times better than Centy. It's a beautiful game that doesn't overstay its welcome.
And to be fair, neither game is truly derivative enough to be considered a Zelda clone. That title should be reserved for Neutopia and Golden Axe Warrior.
Have you played EGG on the DC? I've had it for a few years & haven't dug into it. Prob the next top down "RPG" I'll try.

Still need to get that one. I've been a slacker when it comes to Dreamcast collecting/playing.

I've played a bit of it. Great looking top, down 2D & hand drawn graphics but the boss battles are in 3D. Interesting mix. You're a guy inside an Elemental Gimmick Gear, essentially a tiny mech IIRC lol.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Still need to get that one. I've been a slacker when it comes to Dreamcast collecting/playing.
There are 13 English RPGs on the DC. Not a terrible hit to your wallet to get them all. I'm only missing Skies (*shield body*) & its on my 2014 to buy list.

Does it feel like a SNES game? I remember it originally being developed for SNES & ported over. Just curious if they added anything...3703 wrote:Albert Odyssy: Legend of Eldean - Saturn. Loving it

There are two Super Famicom Albert Odyssey games (well three if you count the "BS" Satellaview one) that are completely different from the Saturn game. They're much more complex with some strategy elements. The Saturn game is a much more straightforward JRPG.
But yeah you're right - the Saturn game was developed for the SNES and then cancelled and ported.

Hm, I knew the WD crew had an adversion to Sony at first but why was this ported to the SS? I guess if they were putting more games on the system, why not... that & it was late in the SNES lifespan (but b4 Terrinigma & SMRPG IIRC).
