You are absolutely not. I've seen so many people post pretty much the exact same thing.

Also I'm assuming you're talking about the Duke with that Xbox controller comment. The S is a big step up from that one, but it's still kinda awkward.

Actually, my Xbox controller is the S, and its still tragic. The fucking start and select buttons are under the analogue stick. Who thought that was a good idea? The controller is still incredibly fat and heavy, the convex buttons feel awful and the black and white buttons are atrocious to hit.
Oh man, you gotta try out the Duke sometime then. You're gonna be blown away.
I've tried it. It is a terrible terrible thing.

I love the Duke controller. It's perfect for long fingers and man hands. The S is disappointing by comparison.

I never liked the DualShock controller very much. It seems like Sony has been using the same controller since 1998. In all that time, the DualShock has always struck me as "good enough," but far from perfect. The analog sticks are in an awkward place, and the D-pad has been awful ever since the original Playstation controller in 1994. When is Sony going to fix that D-pad?
I like the Duke too, love large controllers! As many others in the past have posted, I don't care for the egg shaped buttons, but still prefer it over the newer smaller model. Also picked up the older and larger MadCatz version, it has decent round face buttons and compares in size to the Duke. Now to figure out its Macro for hopefully coding in an Auto Fire mode.

As for the Duel Shock I like the "four position" contact butons of the DPad. If I want angle movement usually go with analog sticks or Arcade sticks if a fighting game.

For the OP get the KATAMARI and REZ games! You have a ton of PS2 games to discover, the Guides located at the Black Bar on top are a good starting point

The first God of War is pretty good, but most fans of the series would say God Of War 2 is the pinnacle in the series, play GoW first then if you want more go for GoW 2, its a real treat.

As in calling some FPS games mindless, or comparing mindless FPS to God of War? Because FPS games made to be mindless certainly exist, and God of War is basically the mindless version of its genre.
Yeah I was lumping FPS into my mindless category, not truly comparing it to GoW of course. That doesn't mean a FPS can't have style though, see Dead Space, Black (PS2), and Darkwatch (PS2) as examples. GoW isn't thought provoking is prob what I should've said lol.

@ prfsl_gmr, ha! yeah that is exactly why I picked up Okami and Beyond Good and Evil - the many comparisons to Zelda. The art style in Komami drew me in and the humor combined the picture taking elements in BG&E looked intriguing.

Appreciate the insight. I've owned a PS2 for about 3 yrs now, but am just now digging in. I always had a roommate or a buddy with one but this is my first time picking the gems and RPGs I wanted to play versus the latest Rockstar game or AAA title they were playing over beer lol.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, you've been a bit misinformed. First of all, Dead Space is a third person shooter(TPS), not a first person shooter. And there are many FPS that are far from mindless! S.T.A.L.K.E.R., the System Shocks and Bioshocks, Deus Ex, the Half-Life series, even some of your WWII FPS games from a decade ago had some truly amazing moments and weren't mindless. Mindless is more in tune with Serious Sam and Painkiller, sure, but not Rainbow Six.

By mindless man, I meant that it's mindless fun. Not mindless in style or effort by devs.

I played DOOM & Wolf3D on floppy discs son, I'm FPS gangsta like that :P seriously have been a fan of original FPS games for 20 yrs.

Also, yeah I meant Dead Space on Wii. Although now that I think about it - that was more of a rail shooter.

I don't see how any of the games that Ack mentioned are "mindless fun". Those games (especially Half-Life and System Shock) are very thought provoking and immersive. It's not like you just turn your brain off for those games.

I hated Ico the first time I played it and have yet to get back around to it :P. When I was younger escort missions were like torture so I lasted about two levels before I tossed it in the yard sale bin.

Loved Shadow of the Colosuss though played it through probably 2-3 times and spent alot of time just exploring the landscape.

Really need to go back and play Ico though picked up an original copy for the PS2 a while back and also have the SotC + Ico collection for PS3.

P.S. To give you an idea of how much I respected my AI companions when I was younger. I used to coat my bot teammates in Time Splitters 2 with sticky mines and then wait for them to flail their way into enemies lol.
