Has anyone seen the new Transformers One movie yet? Been thinking of taking the family next weekend. Was a huge Transformers fan as a kid (cartoon & toys). Looks solid from previews.

Guilty pleasure confession ... The first Michael Bay film was honestly pretty solid for me (lore accuracy aside), but that series got out of hand quick. I couldn't even tell you how many were released. Shame recently because I was a sucker for Beast Wars and all things dinosaurs as a kiddo.

Definitely more of the same, more of it and more.

It had a much larger budget and it shows like the copious amounts of blood all over the white parts of Art the Clown's iconic clown costume.

I definitely can't wait for the third film. I hope I get to see it in theaters next month.

^ one of my problems with 2 was the runtime, way to long. Have you seen All Hollows Eve (2013), Art's first appearance?

I agree that the first Michael Bay film was pretty good. I didn't like how he directed the transformer action scenes, but overall the movie had a lot of character and was fun to watch.

We watched Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire over the weekend. It was very dumb. Speaking as a father, if a dad pun was a movie it might be Godzilla x Kong.

I actually really liked the first Legendary Godzilla film, as well as Kong: Skull Island, but past those two I don't think they've been very good.

I loved Godzilla Minus One, but I'm not sure my wife thought it was much better than Godzilla x Kong.

I think, looking back, it's easy to forget just how random Beetlejuice is. It doesn't really have a strong traditional narrative. Listened to a podcast recently and when Burton got the original script (more horror, less comedy - though still some of the latter) he didn't know what to make of it. In fact, the only actor who seemed to get it right out the gate was Geena Davis. So when I went to see Beetlejuice Beetlejuice I wasn't sure what to expect except that it would be pretty random. I wasn't disappointed. There was also a lack of traditional core narrative and a lot of completely random silliness, and I liked all of it.

Catherine O'Hara is a gem, an absolute gem. And Beetlejuice was the movie where she met her husband. Allegedly asked Tim Burton why Bo Welch hadn't asked her out, yet.

I'm trying to rewatch all seven movies before starting the TV series.
