Xeogred, Dying Light is pretty much what I wanted Dead Island to be: fast movement and mobility, hordes of zombies, lots of abilities to pick up and try out, lots of areas to explore, and tons of weapons and crafting options. About the only thing I don't like is that there is no way to save weapons you like, as they all wear down over time.

I'm currently playing (and re-playing in the case of HL and UT2004) three FPS games: Star Trek Voyager Elite Force, Half Life Source, and Unreal Tournament 2004 death match sessions. I've been playing on my Panasonic plasma TV in the living room by hooking up my laptop to the TV via HDMI, and I'm using an Xbox 360 controller using a new mapping utility I'm trying. I updated a config file in Elite Force's installation directory to allow it to support 1080p, and it looks great.

So the Goldeneye 64 & Halo thread Nick started encouraged me to dig back into Halo CE. I haven't played Halo or the sequel since probably 2008. Man... the controls are amazing. I've played a lot of console FPS titles from this era. Often the controls are serviceable but just a tad off, as if the devs were still figuring out dual analog FPS. Not Halo... your aim goes exactly where you want it to, even the jumping is spot on. I will admit controlling the vehicles takes some getting use to.

I'm just into The Library which is the 7th mission of 10. I'll report back. I plan on beating Halo 2 this year as well. Good memories and happy to find it isn't just high school & early college nostalgia.

I've been itching for some Halo replays myself. Halo 1 is still my favorite and I love how like MGS1, it's ultimately pretty self contained as well.

Would love to play Halo 2 remastered sometime. It's the only reason I'd ever want an Xbox One, lol.

Yeah, the control on Halo felt SO damn good on the Xbox controller. First time an FPS on a console felt truly satisfying without a keyboard and mouse (like Quake 3 or UT on Dreamcast).

Against my better judgement I saw a game box staring me in the face when I was playing Saints Row IV. Now that I've completed that, I opened it up and installed it.

That's right. I'm playing Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 on the PC. By GRIN.

The previous game nearly had me ragequit.
But I persevered.
What fun stories will I have in the days ahead?

I beat GRAW too and I had my issues with lack of checkpoints and very irritating and unresponsive squad AI as well as many clipping issues causing me to get shot even when I was under cover, etc.

GRAW 2 however, isn't any of those things, so far. The tactical map and cross-com have been greatly improved, squad AI still does have its tiny issues, but at least now they'll MOVE where I ask them to, and those lovely quicksaves are making this experience much better.

Right now I'm on Act II, Mission 4 (The Long Walk). The only frustrating moments I had so far were:

- Somewhere on the first act (I think), you had to support loyalist forces at a small airfield and then a TANK comes along and you have to take that out all the while you're still getting shot at finding a place to hide and deploy the ZEUS weapon and then the tank spots you, GAME OVER. It took me a few attempts.

- The previous mission II.3 where after reaching your original extraction point, the chopper gets shot down and you have to WAIT for a new vehicle to arrive, meanwhile "highly trained mercenaries" are trying to put a stop to that, and with no ammo in my primary weapon I had to give commands and use my secondary MP5 to try to stop waves of reinforcements and snipers, but I must say my squad did great backing me up, except I was down to very low health and I'm waiting for the trucks to get in the square and the enemies won't. stop. coming. It says "Press X to enter vehicle" and then I realized I can't get up in the truck bed, rather I have to get into the passenger seat, again, while I'm being shot at! That could have been very close to a GAME OVER and a major source of frustration!

More later!

I've started Prey (2017) but don't know how much time I'll have to play it.

I'm on Act III of GRAW 2 now. The Long Walk wasn't too bad. The new tactical map is huge in finding the best ways to flank gun emplacements, which saves me a lot of trouble.

The mission where you snuck into the hacienda at night was cool too. Trying not to raise any alarms, no problem. There was someone up on the mountain that was giving me quite a bit of frustration until I found him.

Also, GMDX 9 was finally released for Deus Ex, so I was checking that out too. Go get it Xeogred.
