That's tits. The initial release version is the way the game is meant to be played.

Ended up with:
Top Gun Fire at Will
Tomb Raider II

Both PS1 black label CIB with nice discs for $3.66 total w tax from Goodwill.

They were hiding in the CD bin. Always check the CDs for "NTSC" on the spine :) easy way to spot PS1 games mixed in.

Well I did it. I went to the flea market. And I came across these items.
Black Wii with Mario Bros, donkey Kong country, Wii fit 40.00
Ps2 slim with ten games 30.00
Atari flashback nodded where you can put actual 2600 carts in 10.00
Misc xbox games like splinter cell, tom Clancy's games, rally sport, and other games 1-5.00 a piece.
I walked away from all that and I feel good.hell I feel great. I only got marvel ultimate alliance for the xbox for 5.00. My copy is too beat up to play and it wasn't complete. Damn I feel great I walked away from all that. Ohh the urge was there but I beat it and I walked around with time and I wasn't looking for games in particular. I found other things for my house in the future.
And best yet I enjoyed walking and looking at all the tables and my wife wasn't pissed like she used to be in the past.

Found a couple good deals today at the flees.

Was most excited to find a Odyssey 2 game/software in such great condition in the wild around here. Box and cartridge look like they just came off the shelf although the guide is a little beat up. Paid $3 and the lady said she found a lot more of her son's old games but hadn't brought it from her house yet so I'm going to check back with her next week hoping she still has the system. Still kicking myself for passing up a boxed Odyssey II years ago came back a week later and someone else had snagged it although they left the manual behind so I got that for free :).

At the Proctorville, OH fleamarket I scored some solid PC games Baldur's Gate II Shadows of Amn, Warhammer Mark of Chaos, and Never Winter Nights Platinum all for $10.

There is only one full time indoor game stall at the Chesapeake flea market and the older gentleman who runs it usually gives me pretty solid deals. Got me the following for $20.

Sonic Spinball(Genesis)
Mortal Kombat II(GB)
Game & Watch Gallery II(GBC)
Super Mario Kart(SNES)- Label is pretty jacked but it is from the first run from Japan and the other copy I have is a best seller that was made in Mexico.
Stealth(NES)

Other then that I scavenged a couple other items from the various outdoor stalls including the Taco Bell promotional Lunar Lander(PC) game for $1, a Star Wars plug n play for $3, and Assualt Retribution(PS1) for $5.

I see a lot of people buy without worry from pawn shops and flea markets, don't you worry you will buy something broken or not working? Most seem to have a good experience

You should always check to see if the game is in the case and if it's disc based game, if it's really beat up. Other than that it's tough for software to not work in general and you're usually paying $1-5 for a game at those type of places anyways.

I bought a Zelda II cart that looked like it was in a storm drain for 20 years and then a dog slept on it for days, inside and out. It was a dollar. Why not? Cleaned it a bunch of times and it almost works consistently now.

The only stuff I worry about is Atari stuff. I have three 2600s and two of them are heavy sixers. Can't get any of them to work.

I always check the games out thoroughly before buying them and rarely get any dead games unless I forget to check them. Basically it comes down to looking over the top and bottom of every disc you buy and eyeballing the contacts on any cartridges + giving them a slight shake to see if anythings loose inside. If you ever go somewhere where you can't examine the games and they don't offer a return policy then you are probably best off passing unless you find something you really have to have.

Usually everything needs a solid cleaning though unless you want to dirty up your system or risk errors in game.

The only thing I really worry about is hardware especially consoles. It's always a coin toss as to if it will work or not since there is so much that can go wrong.

As for pawns many offer some form of return policy. My favorite chain around here offers a 1 day return policy which is pretty tight, but they have always been good to me in the past. Bought a PS3 that had a none responsive power button last Christmas and had to bring it back not only did they accept the return but the Dude upgraded me to a console that was priced $50 higher and had twice the hd space :D .

Really I worry much more about getting dead games from online sellers and Gamestop.
