Thanks Samson. My heart has always been in the right place...took my brain some time to sync.

OP! Yeah, glad you got a quick glimpse of the missus and I. Shes still the best. Thank you as well.
This masters is in Rehabilitation, and although a clinical degree usually used for substance abuse or as a bridge to a doctorate or Psy.D, for me it was mainly about being able to better connect with others so they could obtain happiness. I went from a business mentality where in school everyone was competition and you didn't want to see every entrant graduate to a program where you rooted for every student. My favorite professor had a heart attack in class, and died this March (couldn't go to his funeral due to covid, but do read The Six-Step Button Therapy Model by Dr. Goodwin). That's the tip, just the tip. It's been amazing, but I am in a position where I can help thousands of people a year and be honest as well as caring.

I have missed a lot of you duders.

Looks like my shop might be closing down. Might try to survive off odd jobs for a bit and once things calm down try to work at another vape shop, but I have no idea what's about to happen to me.

You guys looked happy and healthy. Can't beat that. It has been a long while, so I'm glad to see you're all right. Still playing NES and emulating James Bond, too, I see.

I'm also going to believe you intentionally ignored the awful puns.

And all of that happened in the past couple of weeks.
:)

That's me. Do you. If you aren't doing too hot, talk to someone who cares, and remember just getting through this is an accomplishment. Hang tough.
Also, play some NES Batman games. Or don't. You'll miss out on two wonderful games and one other game if you don't get on it. So think it over.

Congrats and all that. Did your university have a graduation ceremony during the lockdown though? I thought all commencements were being done online.

SamuraiMegas, sucks man. Looks like some parts of the country are slowly opening. Odd liquor shops were essential but not tobacco. Seem to be fairly similar in reasoning to stay open.

NotLuke, Congrats. There was a big weight lifted off my shoulders after my master's. Enjoy the extra time! Read a book for fun! That was amazing. I watched a ton of movies too 8). Take time to relax.

Smile from my side :D ... home network GB switch & Cat 6 upgrade. Getting 250+ mbps internet & 1 millisecond (or less) ping times on internet LAN. K
[Edit: should add some context this was driven by work from home needs... and general nerdiness]

We had a BIG online thingy, and our department had a special online commencement for the PhD and MS students that, oh I really dunno but maybe 20% showed up for as we all did our own thing. Now, that may seem kind of weird or even insensitive, but the disconnect was already there, so students bonded with students and collaborated to make it more of a personal celebration, which I can get behind. I stand by the students who didn't show up as as much as 60% didn't graduate....but that's, as they say in the credits of a movie, "another story". Or maybe "a different story", or "a story for a different time", or "a story for another time".

I had an online commencement with my Grandmother who recently turned 98, and it was the best thing of my week!

Take care you guys. Don't let up!

I was informed today that I will be working from home until further notice.
It is AT LEAST until 2021, but it will probably go longer.
I'm certain it will go away when all of this is over, whenever that is.

I've gotten used to working from home and I'd probably prefer it. But, there are still aspects of the office that I miss.

I'm still allowed in the office once or twice a week because I have stuff to print and checks to deposit. That really helps as at least I get to go out of the house.

As a result of coronavirus my work has now basically moved completely to remote working from this point onwards. It has it's downsides, but I'm saving 12 hours a week commuting and thousands of pounds on train tickets a year so I'm certainly not complaining.

My state is having our worst numbers since it kicked off, our "second wave" if you will after our "first wave" ended and restrictions were lifted. From midnight tomorrow masks are compulsory if you leave your home. But working in a public facing job, by far the most frustrating thing is hearing people talking about their "rights". Killing me.

Masks in public have been required here since April. New York opened businesses back up in phases, the fourth and final phase happened a week or two ago. But even still, not all businesses are returning to normal. For example, in door dining is now allowed again but with certain rules. Even then, McDonald's for example decided not to open up there tables for indoor dining. They remain strictly takeout. Schools aren't back to normal, either. I'm not sure what public schools are doing but I know that colleges and universities around here are still going to be mostly online courses.
