What about deleting my account? What I want is for my personal info to be permanently removed, and for Animal Crossing to still be playable. Is this possible?Valkyrie-Favor wrote:Don't format anything. At least one game will be lost forever and probably both.

Re: Nintendo 3DS
If you want to sell the games with the system, DO NOT FORMAT.Lazer wrote:Question 1: If I format the system memory and delete my account, will Animal Crossing still be playable? (I am leaning towards "yes" since it was not bought thru eShop, thus not linked to me/my account)
Question 2: All eShop purchases are tied to me, and thus will not be usable by the new owner?
Your eShop account is TIED TO THE HARDWARE. If you format, you forfeit all of your games, yes, even the one that came pre-installed on the SD card. It is linked to your hardware, and formatting the 3DS will make it appear to be new hardware and the game will no longer work.
The only way to keep your eShop purchases is do to a system transfer to a new 3DS before selling your old one. Otherwise, sit with the person buying your 3DS and have them change the personal info before leaving.

If you delete your eShop account, you will permanently lose Four Swords and anything else you have purchased, but will not lose Animal Crossing. If you format the system, you will lose everything.Lazer wrote:What about deleting my account? Re: Nintendo 3DS
What if I format without the SD card inserted? The reason I am asking, is that it seems like there is info hiding in different places on the system. I would like to wipe it all clean. The only thing I really care about keeping is AC, and that's just so someone else (new owner) can play it. I don't care about any eShop stuff.irixith wrote:If you delete your eShop account, you will permanently lose Four Swords and anything else you have purchased, but will not lose Animal Crossing. Re: Nintendo 3DS
It doesn't matter whether or not you have the SD card inserted. The game download that came pre-installed on the SD card -- think of it as a key, and your 3DS as the lock. Formatting the 3DS is like re-tumbling the lock -- the key won't work in it any more.Lazer wrote:What if I format without the SD card inserted? All digital content for the 3DS works that way.

OK, I see. Thanks for the clarification. It's a bummer.irixith wrote:It doesn't matter whether or not you have the SD card inserted. Looks like AC won't be part of the sale. Oh well!

I have no idea. The eShop on Wii U is way better and quite well organized but the 3DS one is pure trash.Opa Opa wrote:Why is the eshop still so convoluted?

Re: Nintendo 3DS
From what I udnerstand it's much worse in the US too.
Europe and Japan have tabs to search by categories such as demos, retail releases, download only, virtual console, dsiware etc
