What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

So does the damn genie on the Arabian Nights display. I hate it when he waggles them at me for multiball. Cannot unsee! And now you can't either.
I'm pretty sure I've never played that pin before, but now I kind of want to.
It is on the PS3 Williams collection and it is the freebie/demo in the Steam version.

Is it on the PS2 version, perhaps?

 - A fellow student in class said that Ken Ham won the Nye vs Ham debate because he provided more "evidence". I then proceed to debate him about Adam and Eve and Noah's Ark which ended in him turning around and ignoring me for the rest of class.

:x - I went to the PO to pick a padded flat rate envelope only to find out they don't carry those in the office anymore. I wish they would have told me this when I was buying the postage.

Hah, nice. That debate was both amusing and painful to watch.

Y'know. I think once in a while it is okay to be perfectly blunt. Not frank, blunt.

I got an email this morning with the content stating "I tried to call you".

This is Dumb. Not to go Yoda on the person who sent me this steaming pile of an email, but wtf does "I tried to call you" mean?

Couldn't leave a message? Couldn't leave a number? Fingers fell off while dialing? Brain exploded while dialing? Forgot the seven digits?

Hate to go blue, but fuck people with lame excuses. You "tried to call me"? Try to find your fucking severance dipshit.

I have given more than one pass from a worker who has said "Luke, to be honest...I got loaded last night". I've been there too. But ffs, "I tried" isn't going to fly. "I tried to call you = I think you're an idiot".

Not only am I pissed that I have to fire someone, I'm pissed that I have to make an example of someone. I work with professionals. I work with adults. To have to make a meeting out of this nonsense pisses me me off to no end.

And this isn't "heavy is the head" bullshit...I am sincerely shocked that more than likely tomorrow I will stand in front of shareholders stating "THIS fucking guy..." I hate to have my hand forced, but there is no other option.

If only the dude said "Luke, I'll get back to you tomorrow".

Didn't you see Law Abiding Citizen? Sometimes when you make a phone call your cell phone will explode and take your head off.

Don't you have a criteria or disciplinary policy in place. Any discipline or termination should never be on a supervisor - opinion, personal preference, independent decision doesn't come into play if you have an established process.

Counseling-->Verbal-->Written-->Suspension-->Last Chance Agreement-->Termination

Or something similar. Of course there are certain things that go from 0 to Termination, but again, those should be spelled out in policy. Be it yours or the company's. If the employee is aware going in then the discipline or termination is by matter of policy and you the supervisor are divorced from it.
