I remember my grandparents buying a new television and stacking it on top of their old (furniture) television.

Yay! Phantasy Star IV. One of my favorite RPGs. Top 5, for sure!
I play all my stuff on my 32" Samsung LED. Don't have room or a CRT to play on unfortunately. Well, I do have a CRT in the house, but its not convenient to play games on currently.

@ Duke, it's a great TV. I bought it in 2005 right before LCD took off. Great retro game TV. Also DVDs look very clean via component. CRTs are great at displaying blacks so dark movies with contrasting such as Underworld look crazy sharp.
@ Sano, yeah, PSIV is amazing. Those anime style cut scenes are pretty impressive. The boxes in comic book style add to it.

Re: what type of television do you play your classic console
Little late to the party, but I play mine on the same tv I got for my...what 7th birthday? The damn thing still works lol. I don't know anything about it other then it's a old Toshiba.
Though I might have to be looking into getting a newer one since lately the picture is getting...what's the word I'm looking for...unsteady? It's not flickering but if you watch the text it seems to be...moving slightly. That and if it gets moved about it sometimes loses its sound, but you just have to hit the side of it and the sound pops back in.
What's really annoying about it is because I have a "entertainment center" (basicly a wood box like thing that has three shelves in it and an openish area for the tv) the tv doesn't fit in the area where I have it now and it's a pain to slide it around to get to the back everytime I want to plug in a different console. My set up isn't very good right now...I need to invest in some switcher boxes and maybe find a tv that has the rca slots in the front of it!

I had an old Trinitron that eventually started "bouncing". It was slight, but perceivable. I gave it away and I believe it is still being used by someone in that family.

Re: what type of television do you play your classic console
For a few months now I have been using a Sony PVM 2950Q. When I got it, it reeked of cigarettes. I had to scrub it down several times with ammonia to get the tar off. After that I still had to give it a few vinegar baths to neutralize the smell. I wish I had taken pictures of all the rags that I went through. It would have made a pretty good anti-smoking ad.
While I may have gotten it pretty cheap, getting all my consoles RGB ready has been black hole for my wallet. It has been worth it though! The picture is incredible and photos just don't do it justice. In person it looks so much better.
Also I came across this article today. http://www.tested.com/tech/gaming/45671 ... tro-games/ It would be a good read for anyone following this thread.

I was interviewed for that article. I assume others who have posted here were as well.
