Re: RPG Progress Report
Ok. Just knocked out Shadow Wars. Good story eending & the later missions were tough, requiring a lot of strategy. 23 hours total, time well spent.

God, I irrationally love this game so much.
Wait, no, it's totally rational, because it's awesome.

The spell effects are so over the top compared to the actual damage they put out, at least at the early levels.catnip wrote:YES.TheSSNintendo wrote:Legend of Dragoon: About to start Disc 2.

I feel your feel nippycat, I love Dragoon so much.
Agreed that the damage is silly compared to the spells early on, but damn does it feel so good to actually chain together some of the tougher additions. Plus, that game just had this weird vibe that I totally dig.

Absolutely agreed with the over-the-top effects, but that's totally fine by me! I love over-the-top effects!dunpeal2064 wrote:I feel your feel nippycat, I love Dragoon so much.

Also, I got Gust of Wind Dance down to a science when I played. Lavitz and Albert are the best.
EDIT: I also love how Dart says "Madness... HeroOoOoo!"

Ahh man, Gust of Wind Dance was the exact addition I was thinking of when posting! Its so damn satisfying to pull off once you get it. The speed up into those 3 quick attacks messed me up for days!
And yeah, I just love the way each character yells their moves. They all have some weird quirk to the way they talk

That CD era voice acting. I'm fairly certain they'd just round up hobos outside the studio to have them do voices.dunpeal2064 wrote:Ahh man, Gust of Wind Dance was the exact addition I was thinking of when posting! Of course, even modern day voice acting can be hilariously bad:

Re: RPG Progress Report
My party mostly has consisted of Dart, Lavitz/Albert, and Rose. Pretty good, except Rose takes quite a bit of damage at times.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Second run finished. White Mage, Berserker, Bard, Dragoon. Managed to do both the super bosses as well. Omega took a few tries to get the initial timing right of having two people stagger Love Song while a third used Speed Song, but after a little while my speed was high enough that a single character could keep him stopped with Love Song, at which point I switched to Strength and Hero Song. Meanwhile, my Zerker was swinging the Rune Axe for some crazy damage (gotta love that 1/4th defense in the calculation) and knocked him out. Shinryuu was much easier; started off Berserking him, then spammed Image while my Dragoon put up Speed Song. Again, once speed got high enough switched to Hero Song and Strength Song. Neo Exdeath ended up being the hardest, in that I had to really pay attention to what was going on. Almagest always killed my Bard (party was level 29) and I needed to make sure I took down the Grand Cross section first, as I didn't have much status protection and I only had two active members. But it worked out in the end with a lot of Holy Spam (and using Magic Song instead of Strength Song after Speed and Hero were done).
Going to try a third run once the victory is processed by Gilgabot to see if I can start with something besides White Mage.
