I acquired some more Everdrives (GBA and Lynx), and a modded CoinOps oXbox, sold off a bunch of stuff I no longer needed to help fund a trip to Disney World, acquired a Saturn and a Dreamcast, and got closer to finishing off my Wii and Wii U collections. I also managed to get my Wii, Gamecube, and movie collections into DVD binders which has contributed to recapturing my living room and my sanity. With that said I have some goals for 2017.

1. Acquire a good retro based tv for my bedroom. Mine was having some issues when I moved out in August so I dumped it. I would like to be able to hook up my retro collection again, or at least be able to, so this is a must.

2. A big want is to acquire an R4i Gold and/or DSTwo for my DS. If anyone can help direct me to where I can find one or both of these I'd be extremely grateful.

3. Finish my Fire Emblem collection - I am missing the two Famicom games, which I want translated in NES shells, and the Japanese DS game. I am also missing the Amiibo's for Marth, Lucina, and Robin.

4. In addition to the Fire Emblem Amiibo set I want to finish my daughter's Animal Crossing collection. She needs Isabelle Summer Outfit and the Villager. I want a couple of specific ones for myself as well.

5. Acquire at least 8 games still on my Gamecube, Wii, and Wii U want lists, acquire 1-2 of the big ticket items for each, and discover 1-2 Japanese titles for the Gamecube. I'm down to about 20 games wanted for each system so a reasonable goal and keeps me at about 2 games a month. Until the Switch comes out anyway.

6. Work towards finishing my collection of the US SNES games that don't play on my SD2SNES. I'm down to 4 plus Starfox 2 and Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius.

7. Acquire the last Everdrive enabled console I'm still missing and the ED for it; the PC-Engine/TG-16. I want to get one that can hook up to a tv via analog and I won't spend the money on the cd games so I'm looking at a Shuttle or a Core Grafx.

8. Get all of my Wii U games off the shelf and into a CD/DVD binder. They are so much more accessible and take up a lot less room.

9. Continue playing games with my kids. This is one of my favorite things and we don't do it enough.

10. Get rid of some more stuff that I won't play, have doubles of, or don't have a system for.

11. Continue running Secret Santa in July for Racketboy. It's one of my favorite things we do and I enjoy helping it happen.

12. Not game related but I want to go through all of my comics, single issues, trades, and HC's and purge about half of them. Then use that money to finish off my X-Men and Disney collections and put the rest towards a trip this summer.

I think that is sufficient for 2017.
1. I picked up a 36" Sony Trinitron which is unfortunately too large for my space but it's a nice tv.
2. Still haven't found.
3. I've given up on this but I'll pick up Fire Emblem: Echoes of Valencia at some point.
4. Still looking for these
5. I've purchased way too many Wii games but I'm slowly working on Gamecube and Wii U. I acquired Skyward Sword and Phantasy Star Online I & II
6 and 7. Stalled for the moment
8. Goal accomplished
9. This has been happening though my youngest is now devoted to Minecraft
10. I don't have much left to get rid of
11. Made the sign up thread today
12. I got rid of a lot more then half or I'm in the process of. I went to WDW in January and May and we're looking at Disneyland in Dec '18. The X-Men collection will be leaving. I'm collecting Barks and Rosa Ducks and Gottfredson Mickey books now instead.
My FS/FT/WTTF list:

MY COLLECTION DOWN SIZING PROJECT
Way to make us feel guilty and or depressed in this topic...

Really though, yeah I have some old DVD's and CD's I really want to get rid of.
It kind of sounds like a fired over half my games .

It's been a good move. I had no idea when I started the process back in May 2016 that my work would have me start using my home office much more so it's been nice. My upstairs common area doubles as half gameroom, half office/computer area. It was way too cluttered before and now I have more work related stuff in there. It would've given me a panic attack :P. I spend a lot of time in that room between work and games. Behind the couch... working... on the couch... relaxing.

DL MakeMKV (free) and start ripping those DVDs! I slowly ripped about 5 a night. I bought a $30 media player for upstairs that outputs 1080p off a USB drive. Can't beat that. I then gave forum members first pick & sold the rest of the DVDs/BRs in a giant lot on ebay. Still have access to watch them all, made a little money, & saved a ton of space.

You can also use Handbreak (another free app) to compress BR rips (but keep in HD) if the files are too large for you. I recommend ripping with MKV first. I had better luck with it.

@mas... Dude, complete Saturn set would cost upwards of $6K easy these days, keeping in mind the library is 1/3 the size of the NES. Unless you're a good ways into it already, I'd make a list of your personal must haves.

I don't follow the scene as close but I hear TG16/PCE is close on the Saturn's heels on pricing.

Stick to SMS IMHO. I though you were almost done with it? Assuming you'll be ok with Euro Sonic.

1. Complete my Fire Emblem collection. I still need the Famicom original, Thracia 776, Binding Blade, and the Japan-exclusive DS one.

2. Beat the Witcher trilogy. I've got all three, and I've played through the first one, but I need to play 2 and 3.

3. Get at least a couple of Hyperscan games (along with a controller and power cord)

4. Finish the Fatal Frame series (this is a carry over from 2016 since I got hella slack)

5. Have a zero balance on my Amazon and SECU credit cards at literally any point during the year.
I'm halfway through #1 (still need Binding Blade and New Mystery of the Emblem), halfway through #2 (planning to finish that one this summer), made no progress on #3, still need to finish III and IV on #4, and I'm almost halfway through #5 (I should have my Amazon card paid off by August or September).

Perfect enough if I found something I may want to singularly bother with, or acquire cheap so I can test to pass it along (sale, trade, gift) that's what I was thinking. I know there are stand out issues. I just don't want to leave a system lying around for no good reason that works and I won't use.

Oh and I'm looking at that post of Barnes there, and he's going far more hardcore than I care to, but I'm doing a lite purge in comparison.

Dreamcast stuff is clipping along at a nice pace, and yesterday finally after like 9mo (damn ebay and their preferred search) one of 2 copies of new batteried pokemon gold is gone. June has been overall a good month at getting rid of stuff and I approve. :P

Bonus - RetroHQ Royal Mail delivery just dropped my NeoGeo Pocket Color SD! Wee...no need to pay $150 ea for Megaman, Cotton(US), Evolution(EU), Faselei(EU) and other horrid things, plus homebrew, other projects and whatever else. Fun fun.

This is the complicated one. Basically, I'll randomly select a game from my backlog using the backloggery's fortune cookie function. Then I'll choose 2 other unbeaten games for that console. I have to beat those 3 games before I can buy another. This means I beat more than I buy, the random game means I play stuff I might not otherwise, choosing the other 2 gives me some degree of freedom, and sticking to once console focuses my playing more than usual.

2. Finish my alphabet marathon
Yeah, still a ways off finishing this. I'm only at game T.

3. Buy a Switch and one other new console
I'm thinking Sega Mega CD or SG1000. Maybe Wonderswan though!

And just because I know it will happen - exceptions to my beat 3 buy 1 rule:

- Gifts don't count (Christmas/birthdays)
1. I did well on this for a while, then I bought big bundles of NES and Wii games, so nope, failing this so far.

2. No progress

3. Bought a Switch. Gaming money went towards other stuff like a Framemeister after that, so another console can wait. Leaning towards Sega CD when I do go for it though.

Well after some serious thoughts and talking to a few members here we all agreed and my wife and I have talked most important that it's time to move on. I'm selling off my collection and buying a retropie and calling it a day.
My collection will now consist of this
Ps3
Modded Wii
Raspberry pi 3
Nes classic
And snes classic when it comes out.
I will have everything I need for gaming. I'll sell off the games and systems, make space and redoing the downstairs to a family room. I just figured it's a great time for a seller and the prices on games is so expensive now, not only that but now I'm more into the house and doing stuff for the house than just sit and play video games.
Don't get me wrong I'm still going to play, but I'd rather have something where I have it all and choose what I want than go thru the mess of cd's and carts and wires and hookup the systems ugh. I'm just done

Markies wrote:The main goal I have for 2017 is to get under 100 Unfinished Games. I am currently at 101, so I don't think it will be that hard. However, the hard part will be staying under 100 from now on. It would be so easy to just buy a few more and completely ruin it.

General Goal: Get Under 100 Unfinished Games Beat on 01-19-17

And just because, let's add some specific goals for each console:

1. NES = Beat Castlevania 3 Beat on 02-13-17
2. GEN = Beat a Season as Coach in Tecmo Super Bowl Beat on 07-04-17
3. SNES = Beat Final Fantasy V
4. N64 = Beat Conker's Bad Fur Day Beat on 03-22-17
5. DC = Beat Skies of Arcadia
6. PS1 = Buy A New Game Bought on 03-21-17
7. PS2 = Beat Xenosaga Beat on 05-09-17
8. GCN = Beat Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
9. XBOX = Complete Crimson Skies Completed on 01-25-17
On the day of American's Independence and my Independence from my Job, I did something truly American and I sat on my couch and played a Football game all day. Today, I won the Super Bowl as a Coach, doing a Perfect Season in 9:05.

There were some close calls. I was the SF 49ers and I'm glad I was. When I did pass, which was rare, my QB would most likely throw into double coverage and they'd still catch the ball because I was SF. However, both battles against NO were awful. I had to come from behind to win one. I beat Philadelphia in the NFC Championship on a Touchdown with 18 seconds to go.

I was straining my voice at my yelling, but I finally did it. It was painful, but my defense and running game were top notch. I have truly Mastered Tecmo Super Bowl on the Sega Genesis.

Super Nintendo - I am about 95% of the way through the game. I just have the final area, which I'm intending to spend all day doing tomorrow.

DreamCast - This could be difficult. I have to finish Sonic Adventure and then start and beat Giga Wing beforehand. I am hoping to start it over the summer. Hopefully, I will beat it by the end of the year.

GameCube - It is really good, but also very long. I think I am about to start the 5th Dungeon, maybe about 50% of the way through the game, thanks to AlienJesus.
