In my experience, all of the girls become very protective of the girls who do go through teen pregnancy, and the boys are generally treated well assuming they take responsibility- I've seen what some would call bullying (and what others would call proper punishment) happen to the boys who don't do what they should in the situation.

And lets leave the religion out of it, okay guys?

Valkyrie-Favor wrote: Why are you saying that sex education is an "utterly minor" issue when it is reducing the number of teenage pregnancies? That sounds like a big deal to me.
It's ideological influence is minor, while it has a large economical/societal/however you want to categorize this effect. If you're concerned that is effecting the world view/political opinions/way of thinking of kids, it's one of the more minor issues
Valkyrie-Favor wrote: Your assertion that I shouldn't be concerned about this because there are other things to be concerned about is completely baffling to me.
Well if you have a problem with the general concept that schools affect the way kids think, then it's odd to be alarmed by this particular issue, when the public education system's agenda is made up of hundreds and hundreds of issues like it, so it's nothing out of the ordinary.

You're putting words in my mouth. When did I say I wasn't concerned about those other things?

We're done with this.

But thinking of schoolgirl uniforms leads me to think of sex! Hjalp!

Speaking of uniforms, we just acquired my daughter's stuff for this year. Four new shirts and a sweater. At first I thought the shirts were expensive at $20-25 each. However, after a year of wearing each once per week and being washed in varying levels of hot water and bleach, they are still in great condition. The durability far exceeds the flimsy clothes you find at the mall.

My daughter tends to waver between enjoying the school uniform to being indifferent. When she first started wearing the uniform last year, she was a little annoyed, but after a few months she didn't even seem to notice. Then it turned to being excited at the thought of getting new shirts.

I would say no 95% of the time BUT...

I had friends at several schools nearby that were a lot worse than mine & they had to implement a strict dress code due to gang colors, low pants, etc. They weren't "uniforms" exactly but they had to wear khaki pants and a navy or grey polo style shirt. This cleaned up the look of the school quick. In cases like this, it's ok.

I never understood why teen's keep the baby. I remember this girl who has considered to be the most gorgeous girl of the school get pregnant. She chose to keep the baby. *face palm* and now had almost no teenage life. Uniforms have little to no correlation to girls getting prego. Honestly, If you get pregnant as a teen, you should give it up for adoption or get an abortion. I know a lot of people don't believe in abortion but If you can't provide a good life then why put someone through that? I know I kind of got off topic but whatever.

Well, I'm personally against abortion with an exception to rape, but I'm not going to point out my reasons.

As to keeping it, have you taken into consideration that it is, in fact, your child? I understand that being able to provide may be hard in the situation, but the fact is that if I knocked a girl up I would consider myself responsible for both that girl and that child, as I would expect any male worth anything to be. Similarly, I expect the girl to feel responsible for at least the child, if not the man in the situation too. You might lose your teenage life, and your life might become a teenage hell, but you chose to have sex and you chose to have it with that specific partner, so you should live with those consequences and be responsible for your actions either way.

Interesting perspective. With your comment in mind, should we allow people who smoke and develop lung cancer to just die without treatment? "You chose to smoke, so you should live with those consequences" despite the cancer possibly being treatable? Someone comes to the hospital from a car crash where they weren't wearing their seat belt, "You made your choice, so live with the consequences", and do not treat them? A fireman saying, "sorry ma'am, you left your stovetop on causing your house to catch fire, deal with it."

I believe its a bit different seeing as sex creates life. Its well known that condoms aren't 100% effective, and not nearly as many girls use birth control as one might think. Knowing both of these, one should know that there is the possibility of a baby. That, and I don't believe you can have sex on accident. The only exception to my beliefs is rape, as one of the two in the situation doesn't have any control.

Adoption or some such for your children can be considered if you can't take care of them. But then again, there's a bunch of kids that should be adopted already, so it just increases the chances of things being bad for your children.
