Golden Sun Dark Dawn (DS) - thoughts?

I'll 100% agree with forcing ideas (even as a new comer to series). Many elements seemed thrown in. You learn how to forge weapons when you're 90% done with the game for example.

As an update, I'm at the last boss. I got halfway through the battle & he dominated me when his attacks stepped up. Grinding a few levels & getting life water (revive down allies) from the Tua Soldiers (20k - 41k EXP per battle!). Should take him this time.

If you liked Dark Dawn, chances are you'll enjoy Golden Sun and The Lost Age even more. They are simply better.

Last boss has kicked my rear twice now. I'll have to level up more. I was much closer to beating him round 2. 3rd time is charm maybe?

Really muscled my way through this game in battles. Maybe only had 2 characters die in battle in 35 hours. Get to the last boss & he's a beast. A bit unbalanced IMO.

Finally got around to having another go @ final boss. Crushed him no problem this round.


My final verdict would be a 6.5/10. Nothing terrible but nothing special. Too generic for my taste.


Best thing: Amazing battle animations

Worse thing: Pressing A to prompt text during the battle. It gets annoying to not be able to sit back & watch the turn, you constantly mash A to prompt next.

Go back and play through both Golden Sun and The Lost Age. Do them back to back over the next few months. Golden Sun was an extremely impressive early offering for the GBA and The Lost Age's length and quality are top tier.

I'm sure you'll come to realize how much better the first two really were.
