So I sat down with TOTAN. One hour later -
Image
That's right. 7 tables with all goals complete. As I was working on the standard goals, I managed to save the princess, knowing that would possibly be a wizard goal later I was glad to have seen how that all goes down. The Make A Wish feature makes getting jewels dang easy. It's also nice how modes don't end when the ball does. According to the flyer, this was designed for novice and casual pinball players in mind. That would make a good table to offer free with download.

I got a little hung up on the Harem Multiball as that is one shot, 5 times, when lock or Tiger Loop isn't lit. It seems to be a tough goal for many on the Pinball Arcade fan forums as well.

As for the wizard goals, banged out all 5 on the next game. :lol: I don't see what the difficulty was with the camel race. You just have to hit the yellow shots 4-5 times and then hit the ramp for completion. Is it tougher on a non-touch device to flip?

Score -
Image
Just over 90 million. Best way to score: lamp spins by far. Not only are they easy to get, they carry over with each ball and a big multiplier can easily get you bonuses like I did of nearly 20 million. The Pro Mode tips suggested staying in princess rescue mode as long as you can because you can increase the Harem Multiball jackpot to near endless proportions, but that's a real pain to even get.

So yeah, that's done. I also noticed many similar design features TOTAN had with Theatre of Magic. For example:

Voice during play: Mystifying! Wonderful! Amazing!
Fireball = Spirit Ring
Similar ball entrance holes from plunger and plastic inlane ramps
Genie = Trunk
Tales = Magic Tricks
Tiger Saw = Tiger Loops
Sneak In = Secret Ball Lock behind trunk
Shooting Star = Magnetic inlane ball saves

Reason: same designer. John Popadiuk did ToM, TOTAN, and also Cirqus Voltaire.

just tried TOTAN on my tablet. I have to say, the touch controls work great.

Also, if you guys didn't notice Elvira Scared Stiff is free on Google Play as its own app.

I can't settle on a good nudge setting for iOS. The shake doesn't seem to work nor the swipe. Anyone know how to direct the nudge left or right when using the touch setting?

I have been playing TOTAN on an Android tablet and it keeps nagging me to log in with a google account or some such. Don't like that.

Touch screens are fairly responsive but I'm not super used to activating flippers with my thumbs, and worse is not having the tactile feedback that I get from the shift keys on an actual keyboard (or some buttons on a gamepad). I also have trouble nudging on the touch screen (but to be honest I was never very good at nudging in any pinball games I played - the best setup for me so far has been when the flippers are on shoulder buttons and nudging is multidirectional on a d-pad).

Does one get an extra ball at 8 Million on the Steam version as well? I didn't notice that but I only played it once there.

I got 20 Million so far on Android, which is about half I got on my first and only go on the PC. Still haven't got Harem multiball anywhere. I suspect I won a camel race because I got a jewel but I havne't seen the 2nd page of the goals so far. Activating the Ruby seems a bit hard.

If you go to each table's settings and find the "Show Touch Scheme" option, turn it ON and start a game, it will show you there are 8 touch zones for each table, 6 control the nudge and 2 control the flippers. Under Touch Scheme, you can pick one of 6 places where the touch zones are located on your device, which might help.

What it's probably asking you to do is to login with a TPA/Farsight account. That keeps track of your scores and tournament progress. You can get one in-app or by going to www.pinballarcade.com.

Winning the camel race is a wizard goal, but from what I've read on the TPA fan forums, some people would prefer to have Harem multiball as a wizard goal, and if I was to do it I'd switch that with the camel race, because the camel race is too easy as a wizard goal and the harem multiball is too hard for a standard goal.

I now got 85 Million as top score, it was a bit ridiculous as it increased so much over my previous.

Rescuing the Princess sure helps with 20M. I'm also pretty certain I got the Ruby more than once and won the Camel race. But still no Harem multiball, will need to try specifically for that I guess.

Thanks for the show touch screen tip. I've found that helps me from wandering into the nudge area.

On Steam version of TOTAN table, I managed to complete the Wizards goals. I had a Wizardly game where I saved the princess twice, had three Genie multiballs and a Harem multiball, with several extra balls (4 maybe? the 8 M one, 1 from Jewels, 1 from Tiger loops and 1 from the 1st save the princess. I let my guard down on the 2nd and it drained through the middle unfortunately). I more than doubled my previous best scores. I got 222 million!

I don't think I'm going to top that any time soon...

Good work Ivo. I am still stuck at the 40 mil level. I think part of the problem is I am mostly playing on my phone, when I am much better on my pc.
