Shenmue save transfer to Shenmue 2 Dreamcast

Oh hey, I am going to play Shenmue 2 but was hoping to use my file from Shenmue 1. Shall I suck it up and play the PAL version of 1 and use that file? Or is there a way to convert the US save?

Honestly I am not sure of what all I would need to transfer my vmu save to my pc, is there an easier method than connecting to a server? using a firewire port these days isnt the easiest.

Oh this wouldn't be saving a VMU save to PC. You just burn the ISO onto a CD and pop it into your Dreamcast, select your completed save file in the browser and it will convert it for the PAL Shenmue II. Easy Peasy!

Honestly though I ended up just playing the Xbox version of 2 since I can't transfer my save to Shenmue 3 anyway, so why bother.

You could transfer it if they release shenmue 1 & 2 HD..... a man can dream.

My xbox version keeps freezing on me right after man mo temple before guilin. I look at this as an opportunity to play it the way it was meant to be played, thanks for the replies!

IIRC you start the Xbox version with all the items from the first game.

Versus the DC port, you'd only have what you earned/received in your DC playthrough of the original.

It's all good while I played the Xbox version, I'm going to play through both on the dreamcast in their PAL versions with Japanese audio. Pretty great so far!
