Gotcha, Jim,

FYI, i've been playing Jim a little bit this week and he's got the hang of it pretty well - just needs a few more cards and he'll be able to compete w/any of us.

I'm in... maybe this time the tournament will actually commence unlike June's?

BTW for people new to the game, a new card of the upcoming expansion was revealed that seems pretty dang good for new players, as it's a 'Common' high-cost creature that Hearthstone doesn't have a lot of TBH (they're mostly Epics and Legendaries):

I decided to give it a try I'll probably be a squishy bits opponent, but I'll join in to make it an even number.

Edit:
Maybe I won't be so squishy. Sunk some time into it and now have a pretty solid Mage and Shaman deck. I'm winning probably 80% of my matches. Game really seems to rely on luck a lot. The cards you start with really determine how the games going to go :P. Plus whoever goes second has a major advantage in my opinion since it's easy to start off with no playable cards at all :P .

Got around 4-5 booster packs so far, but nothing to impressive :P.

:P: So I played ranked a bit and after a nice win streak got me to rank 20 I stopped so I can qualify for the card backs.

Man I'm starting to see what you mean about the quality of your cards having a huge impact on the game. It's pairing me with people that have 4+ legendary grade cards in there deck sometimes and the second those start coming out I start getting wrecked. With the right cards I can counter a couple of them popping up pretty easily, but 50% of the time I just get to watch them tear my minions a new one :P.

I'm in. If you'll have me. Also down for $5. You can take my money.

Evenings after 8pm EST work best for me.

*Edit - FYI I haven't spent a dollar on this game yet. Up to four legendary cards. My kids open the digital packs and their lucky fingers have got me three. I dusted the other one.

Do your kids dig it too, Forrest? My kids will watch me non-stop - they love it and my oldest son has a really good eye for things and has won me a few matches.

I'll make up a bracket tomorrow night. OP updated with those whom are in...

The kids love opening the packs and revealing the cards. They always want me to use the legendaries they opened but they usually don't come out till late game.

I think I started around the same time as you mike. Early June maybe.

Lately I've been having a rough time completing the daily quests which has been frustrating. I think I'll need to tweak my decks a little before this event.

I've played Magic (non competitive) for 20 years hence why this seems to appeal to me. Mike - if you think this is addictive - don't play Magic.

Yeah, i've never been into Magic and really had no idea what it was...but i'm hearing that a lot and am fighting the urge to try it out.

I used to be only be decent with Priest and Mage. Now I feel comfortable with everyone except Rogue and Druid.

I keep experimenting with new decks and yeah, my kids are the same - they want me to put big minions and legendaries in all the decks. I have a Legendary/Deathrattle deck that's pretty mean - BUT, I have just as much chance of getting killed as killing them. It's really weak against an aggressive Hunter. It's all about that balance.

My best deck right now is a Shaman Windfury Mech deck. I'm ending a lot of games on turn 5.

Cogmaster - 1
Whirling Zapomatic - 2
Flametongue Totem - 3
Windspeaker (on cogmaster) - 4
Bloodlust - 5

Match over. It's super aggressive and most guys are just trying to play defense, rebuilding armor, playing a 1-attack minion like Northshire Cleric, Voidwalker or Mana Wyrm (Which I can take out w/o killing my minions).

I run into a lot of Hunters with similar aggressiveness and what I find is that you definitely can't rely on legendaries or big minions / big spells.
