Fixed!

Three... no! FOUR big smiles:

A buddy is coming over today and I'm already grinning from ear to ear. Have a game plan for entertainment and eats.

Related I picked up some brewskis for tonight and while in line a very elderly lady was behind me with a single loaf of discounted bread. I turned around, smiled, and asked "How you doing?" (not in a Joey voice). She didn't respond.

I checked out and my change was eighty-three cents. I noticed her bread was only sixty cents. I told the cashier to keep the change to pay for the woman's bread. When I got to my car, that woman, who has to be near ninety came running to me to give me a hug. "That's exectly like something my husband would have done" she said with misty eyes. Made my day and is a great reminder that good deeds are about the gesture, not the money involved. I'm also hoping she'll say something to her friends close to "Some tall white boy paid for my loaf of bread today, and I gave him a big 'ol hug in return".

Third on my list that my consulting job will be over by the end of this week. It's been a totally radical experience, but I am ready for it to be over.

Last on my list, I checked out a few riding lawnmowers. I don't need one, but since I was a kid I thought they were cool. I'm fine with a push mower, and even a self-propelled mower would be over doing it, but the idea of a go cart that also mows my lawn is slick. Went to Lowe's Home Improvement to check a few out.

Wow. These machines are expensive. I've seen used Cadillacs for less. A gum smacking employee walks up to me, calls me "Bo" (not uncommon in NC) and tells me "Here's what you need to get". Apparently what I need to get is something someone who owns a landscaping business would need. I told him that I was just browsing so I could do a bit of consumer research. He spat out his gum and a good amount of spit with it onto the ground and told me "Ya ain't going to get a better price than this at any time Bo. You go big or go home".

So I went home. And I didn't spend 4k.

Hopefully that guy will never have to work on commission alone.

Related: My yard is big, clunky, and uneven. I had a zero-turn when we moved here 8 years ago but just didn't work well with the yard - constantly got hung up; damaged blades. I'm back to a standard push from behind mower - (Lawnboy 21-inch $149) and it works great, been using 5 years now and zero issues - thing is a work-aholic. I beat the heck out of it, never change the oil - never change blades, just abuse it and it runs tip top...but, it takes every bit of 4 hours to mow the lawn which is needed every 10 days or so.

So, i've been looking into a Toro GrandStand Mower - they have a suspension mechanism that works well with uneven ground; have 52" dual blade, and are stand-behind. Would cut my time down to about 90 minutes. Nearly pulled the trigger, but...
I STOPPED MYSELF BEFORE SPENT $5,000 ON A LAWNMOWER

Earlier this year we bought a Gravely zero turn for the farm. We have four riding mowers (all bought for cheap and repaired/frankensteined together) and it takes three people three hours to cut the area around the house, then another hour to cut my lawn which is 30 minutes away. However with the 54inch zeroturn, you can cut the farm in about an hour, and my house in about 10 minutes. It ZOOMS. It helps that the land we are cutting is flat so you can cut the bulk at close to 30mph...

But yeah, it was alittle over 5 grand. However now my mother in law mows my lawn, saves me the hourish it use to take me every Wednesday. My mower has not even been turned over in the last month.

:) : They got the alternator installed on the Jeep and they think that might have solved the problem :P. They are test driving it now to make sure so hopefully I can pick it up in the morning. Still going to be $600 out of pocket, but the way they were going I was prepping for $800+ :P.

Really it wouldn't be such a huge set back if I hadn't had to call off work. Next paycheck or two is going to be laughable so it will probably be another month or so before I try for a home loan.

Edit:
Test drive went okay so they think that was the root issue. Guess if it happens again that will be the first thing I check.

Hold crap on a stick. I mean, on the one hand, that much land gives you lots of options, as your chicken coop/duck coop thread shows off, but on the other hand... ugh. Clearly it's worth it to you. I'm not sure it would be worth it to me. Then again, 15 minutes in the sun will also burn me to a crisp (but will generate enough vitamin D to sustain me for the next 3 years).

I guess I can stop being jealous of all your awesome projects, because now I'm aware of some of what you have to put up with to get to those awesome projects. I bet your kids love it, though...

So big smile today: Went ahead and pulled the trigger! Provided my application for financing is approved (which it should be, my credit score is good) I'll have my motorbike by the end of next week.

Super excited.

Sweet.

Smile: Good times with a friend last night. Brews and chews, music and jokes.

Frown: He's smoking again. He said "I know I know...I drink too much, I've gained about fifty pounds, I smoke too much, I eat food that is terrible for my body, and you are worried about my health".

To which I responded, "I don't care if you're fat, don't care about your liver. I don't even really care about your health. I just don't like the fact you stink of cigarettes".

Let's just say my friends and I are very candid.

He also smoked some latin lettuce out of a vape stick. And it wasn't resin or hash, but a type of gel he picked up in Denver. People are going a bit too far with their pot. I was informed about all the edibles, the goos, the gels, the pot pills, etc. Apparently they even make popsicles laced with thc.

Also have a friend who wants to have his bachelor party at the Cannibus Cup in Denver. I asked him, "Dude. You get stoned at your house all the time. Do you really need to go to Colorado to do the same thing?". And as a non-smoker, weed is the worst party drug ever as weed is a gateway drug to shitty music and shittier food. Not saying pot makes people permanently stupid, but people who are high usually act something dumb. Not once have I had an interesting conversation with a person who is stoned.

Have had some awesome gaming sessions with them though.

Smile: We might have our first female coach in the NBA. Becky Hammon straight up knows her stuff. I believe half of the coaches in the WNBA are male, and nearly half of the NCAA women's basketball coaches are also male. So far we have zero, zip, nada female coaches is pro sports.

I don't see a female coach in the NFL happening in my lifetime, but I could imagine I might see a female coach in the NBA and NHL. Not to take away from any accomplishments, but "The first female coach in the NHL" would fill in seats and attract more fans and broaden the demographic.

People drink wine and beer all the time at home yet still take trips to breweries and vineyards.

I go to the Duck Rabbit brewery at least twice a year, because it's a fifteen minute drive. As much as I like Laphroig, I'm not taking a trip to Scotland to visit where it is made. Especially for a bachelor party.

I don't get it. It's like comic con where you usually pay to stand five hours in a line to see some dude for three seconds. But with the C Cup you stand in line forever to get stoned and sit on your ass for five hours.

Not knocking it, as some people are really into pot, but it does nothing for me. And standing in a line with some pals and joking around would be fun as I love conversation and goofing around, but as soon as they get stoned...Boring.

Plus at a lot of vineyards you get to ride horses and pick grapes. That rules.
