Three... no! FOUR big smiles:
A buddy is coming over today and I'm already grinning from ear to ear. Have a game plan for entertainment and eats.
Related I picked up some brewskis for tonight and while in line a very elderly lady was behind me with a single loaf of discounted bread. I turned around, smiled, and asked "How you doing?" (not in a Joey voice). She didn't respond.
I checked out and my change was eighty-three cents. I noticed her bread was only sixty cents. I told the cashier to keep the change to pay for the woman's bread. When I got to my car, that woman, who has to be near ninety came running to me to give me a hug. "That's exectly like something my husband would have done" she said with misty eyes. Made my day and is a great reminder that good deeds are about the gesture, not the money involved. I'm also hoping she'll say something to her friends close to "Some tall white boy paid for my loaf of bread today, and I gave him a big 'ol hug in return".
Third on my list that my consulting job will be over by the end of this week. It's been a totally radical experience, but I am ready for it to be over.
Last on my list, I checked out a few riding lawnmowers. I don't need one, but since I was a kid I thought they were cool. I'm fine with a push mower, and even a self-propelled mower would be over doing it, but the idea of a go cart that also mows my lawn is slick. Went to Lowe's Home Improvement to check a few out.
Wow. These machines are expensive. I've seen used Cadillacs for less. A gum smacking employee walks up to me, calls me "Bo" (not uncommon in NC) and tells me "Here's what you need to get". Apparently what I need to get is something someone who owns a landscaping business would need. I told him that I was just browsing so I could do a bit of consumer research. He spat out his gum and a good amount of spit with it onto the ground and told me "Ya ain't going to get a better price than this at any time Bo. You go big or go home".
So I went home. And I didn't spend 4k.
Hopefully that guy will never have to work on commission alone.
