I would love to be able to get that Rare collection thingy just for a remastered Jet Force Gemini with a control scheme that approaches sanity.

And now the Challenge truly begins.

Or so I've heard as I've never played the lost levels. I have seen people play it with beaming frustration, but have never played the original.

There is a version of it on Super Mario All-Stars, right?

Yes, but the difference in difficulty between the original Famicom Disk System version and the All-Stars port is enormous. All-Stars version is much more manageable.

I actually wasn't being sarcastic, either. I don't think Ack will have an issue with All-Star Lost Levels.

I'm actually playing Lost Levels on the Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World combo cart.

I have already made it a few levels in but got frustrated for a bit. Tell me about the structure of the game though. I know it goes levels 1-9 and then A-D. And there are warp tubes that go forward and backwards. Where does the game actually end? What level should I be shooting for?

Avoid any and all warp zones to guarantee you play World 9. Don't quote me on this, but I believe that if you take any warp zone the game will skip 9 (even if, say, it's a warp from World 2 to World 4). Anyhow, you'll want to see World 9 - it's quite a trip.

D-4 is the final level.

I'm curious about how that will work with the level select feature on the Super Mario All-Stars carts. Even if I skip ahead, all between levels have unlocked so far. I took a warp tube from 5-2 to 8-1, and everything in between is now available.

Anyway, 8-1 is how far I managed to get over the weekend, though like I said, I hopped into a warp tube to get that far. I find this game intensely frustrating, but it's in a genre I don't care for, so...meh, I expected this. Part of the fun is learning to navigate the tubes and find the secrets, so I'm studying up and reading about the game in the meantime.

I also admit that I got frustrated and went off to play non-Summer Challenge games a few times.
