But yeah, almost everything I watch or listen to I have on physical media. I'd miss buying certain things, but I own a lot of junk as it is. I would miss certain podcasts and blogs, and I do like being able to email friends. But I also am pretty comfortable listening to the radio, reading magazines and books, and sending random postcards to friends. I'm also a big fan of talking on the phone, as opposed to email or IM! Although I generally feel like I'm acting like a caveman when I suggest talking on the phone with people.
Can you live without the internet or wifi
Re: Can you live without the internet or wifi
As long as I have the option to go to the public library and use it for certain things, I think I could be pretty comfortable without it. Of course, I work in a public library, so it's easier for me to fit that into my schedule.

The internet is too built into basic functions of the world now to shut down completely. Stock markets, jets, defense and security, buying and selling basic goods—the world would do more than shudder if it suddenly lost the ability to talk to other computers.Fragems wrote:It would be interesting to see the world go a week without internet.
Re: Can you live without the internet or wifi
That's what would be interesting is just how pathetic the world would be if the internet were to suddenly collapse for even a handful of days. Not only would commerce slow to a snails pace(No online shopping, no atms, no credit cards) but there would be a good number of people who would start loosing their shit within the first 24 hours

Re: Can you live without the internet or wifi
I probably could do it.
I would just need a terabyte or two to download all the shit I would want.
Mostly manga, comics and music.
We all have plenty of games that we can play when there's no internet.
I also have a ton of books that sit nicely on my shelves that I have yet to take a crack at.
And hundreds of movies on dvd. Hell, I would probably pick up vhs tapes again.
I would probably go haunt fleamarkets more and buy more books and random media.
I've been doing it for a while now anyways. I used to not be hooked on internet services.
I bought my first laptop in 2005 anyways. I've been on the internet ever since.
I'm sure it would hurt but I would survive.

PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: Can you live without the internet or wifi
I know I could it. It would be harder to get things like retro games from amazon or ebay but other than that and some other sites or quick news updates I could do it

Could, probably.
Want to, never.
Like o.pwuaioc said, the internet is built into the core of the world now. In the business world you have to have a web presence to succeed (unless you have been established for years or are the only shop in town). I mean we all could live without it, but the world would shutter and it would be back to pretty much the 1970s.

Re: Can you live without the internet or wifi
The main reason I love the internet is for finding out about concets. Back in the day I have missed my favorite bands because the radio will not tell people about the shows. For a while I would have to call or drive an hour just to see what tickets where on sale. And forget about hearing about out of town shows. I now stalk my favorite bands online. I remember bitching out a venue because nobody even knew about a show
