My wife and I was watching Netflix and its always either cutting out or disconnected or something. I decided to watch the Indiana Jones trilogy on vhs. It was really good watching it with no lag or nothing.
So it mad me think of how easy and simple the 80's, and early to mid 90's were like 96 or 97. Before internet or everyone had it. How easy it was to have a friend come over and play video games at your house. To interact with other people and to go out and exercise and walk everywhere or ride our bikes.
So my question is can you actually live without the internet world today? Im pretty sure I can. I could go without the internet. Pay my bills at a check cashing place or in the mail. I do have a ps2 and there is no online so that's a check. I know I can my kids on the other hand or my wife would loose their freaking mind.

Probably, but I place so much value on the internet just for the information it provides. Plus, it's preferable buying things online sometimes to going to retail stores.
So I wouldn't want to live without internet

Could I? Absolutely!
Would I want to? Not in a million years.
I love online forums and chats too much.

Older. Not wiser.

If I go on vacation it'll bug me for maybe that day, usually the day in some damned car or airplane, but after that no. Same with video games or other things I'm into. Get away from it for 24-48 hours and then you kind of just don't care anymore.
I hate it when the power goes out, then I'm stuck on what I can do, but even then it's quite a bit when you have a charged up Kindle (or a real book), even Gameboy with some AAs around, board games, drawing, whatever. I guess I have less mobile withdrawl on it because it wasn't until 6mo ago or so I got a phone with internet on it, so anytime I was doing all those years of buy low/sell high on video games it was from memory and rarely if ever did I screw that up. I'm totally fine still not using the net on a phone as the limited browsers and other junk I don't care for much and the tablet level stuff is pushing it.

Have done. Could do again. Possibly even would do again. Internet is a good tool, but it's importance is overrated in my opinion.

Are you suggesting we go back to magazines? I'd rather use flint and tinder to start fire.jp1 wrote:Have done. Could do again. Possibly even would do again. Internet is a good tool, but it's importance is overrated in my opinion.

Hey man "start your fire" however you see fit. Magazines are superior to flint and tinder though.MrPopo wrote:Are you suggesting we go back to magazines? I could. Wouldn't really want to.
It would end my gaming hobby, near flat out, unless I was working at a gaming store or some such. There isn't much in the way of good physical media for gaming news. Since G4 died, I really have to scrabble on the internet as it is to keep up with games. Although, I will admit XPlay started to slip near the end, but Adam Sessler really was on point IMO.
That, and I'm pretty poorly informed of the wider world as it is. No reason to make that worse.

I lived the first seventeen years of my life without the internet, so I'm pretty sure the answer is yes. It would be hard giving up the research capabilities of the internet, as well as the convenience of Amazon. I would also miss being able to talk to civilized and cultured people.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
