I loved Jungle Hunt, Yars Revenge, Pitfall, Berserk, Demon Attack, Riddle of the Sphinx, Haunted House, and Real-Sports Football.

I have a certain level of respect for the older consoles. I like to think of them as grandparents. While not all the games were that great, they helped shape gaming as we know it.

It seems like this thread has boiled down to a "Did you like the Atari 2600 or not?" conversation. I'm actually planning on attending a talk on the VCS on Thursday, assuming I can make it there.
I like my TI-99/4A, though I haven't powered it up in years. I got it for my Birthday in 1989 or 1990 or so-- well after its commercial life in the late 70's and early 80's and had a lot of fun with it.
My Atari VCS exposure was pretty limited back then. I don't think I ever even saw one until the early 90's, but my cousin had one. I remember playing dig dug at his house and loving it.
Adventure is also definitely worth mentioning. That one is still playable even today. There was a period of time not too long ago that I would play a quick game of Adventure compulsively between school tasks.
So, yeah, I didn't really experience gaming much in the 80's, but I've appreciated games from those times.

Well the Genesis had its roots also firmly in the 80s what with ports of 80s arcade games and sporting the 68000 and Z80 processors which are very 80s if you know what I mean. As for me the Atari 2600 was my introduction into gaming but when I got my MSX it became significantly less relevant and only something to dig out of the cupboard on special occasions only.
I do try to get classic game compilations for my portable console(s) though! Konami Classics Series: Arcade Hits for the DS is simply brilliant!
