A lot of my games have this connectivity, even TouchMaster, which would have been really fun. The only problem I saw was that it only supported networks with WEP encryption, which wasn't nearly as strong as WPA or WPA2.

So to those who did have it, was it really good? Were you able to get some decent games in with folks from around the world?
On the right games you could get a decent match - Mario Kart and Pokémon were really the only very active ones though. After it's release Prime Hunters was a ton of fun, but it died off pretty quickly.

The big downside of the Wifi going offline is unavailable content. The Layton games had hundreds of additional downloadable puzzles, the Pokémon games lost their GTS feature, Jam with the Band loses out of extra music tracks, the Book Collection games loses out on 30 extra books, a whole character class is now unavailable on Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon, it's kinda sad.

Game and Watch Gallery
I just finished up G&W Gallery Advance/4. It took quite some doing. I do like the games quite a bit. I also recently finished up Metroid Zero Mission, so my GBA has been getting quite a bit of love.

There are some really decent collections posted on here. I used to have a lot more games then I do now, the GB/GBC Everdrive has made most of them redundant. I'll get my list up at some point as well. :)

I played through the first five levels of Wendy: Every Witch Way the yesterday along with the first couple stages of Kid Dracula. I also played a bunch of Mario Picross. All three were very different obviously but the game play is rock solid on all three.

I look forward to Wendy, reminds me of a non-pita cuter version of Metalstorm with the gravity tricks.

So the DS had DLC too? It's everywhere!

Nice collections here. So I see you have Pinball Challenge Deluxe too Tanooki? That took me forever to find until earlier this year.

Retro Game Challenge on DS wasn't bad at all, cheap but fun knockoffs of notably obvious Famicom/NES stuff basically.

As far as the DS and earlier 3DS, that was the period Nintendo was ragging on the other 2 for being crooks with charging for DLC or making finished pay DLC on retail discs saying they wouldn't do it. And within the last year or so we got sold 2/3 of Mario Golf 3DS for $5 less yet $20 more for the missing parts as DLC, and then Splatoon came out with the DLC done already hiding on the disc for added charges. They did a total about face.

Yet another reason this thread is far more fun -- you get what you pay for (short of the optional free DS DLC that's gone with the network.)

Those of you who loved Retro Game Challenge may know there was a Japanese only sequel to it. Not too long ago, that sequel was fan translated into English. That means you can patch its ROM* and load said patched ROM through a DS flashcart, and indeed play Retro Game Challenge 2 completely in English on an actual DS. (Failing that approach, there's always DeSmuME or DraStic.)

You can get the patch here: http://www.romhacking.net/translations/2217/

Other DS game patches in English: http://www.romhacking.net/?page=transla ... ssearch=Go
(That list omits a few full translations like Blood Of Bahamut or Culdcept DS.)

Another DS import I strongly recommend is Soma Bringer. It is the lovechild of Secret of Mana and Diablo, made by the same team behind Xenoblade no less. And yes you can play it in English: http://www.romhacking.net/translations/1612/ Super duper awesome game, I beat it co-op with my fiance and we had a great time.

*A self dumped ROM of course, from your own legit import of the physical Japanese release.

Yep, the second RGC (or Game Center CX) is quite good. It's a little hit and miss with both as far as the games go, but it's all good fun. So far, though, I like the RPG better in the first game than the second.

I'll have to brag about my GB/GBC/GBA collection in here at some point as well. No way I can remember everything I've got...

It's crazy what we maybe once had but don't now to think about it. Here's something nuts, try this on for size. It should be accurate within a game or a few I may have totally blanked out on. Much larger than the hidden list I did before for those who care to open it up. There's many more I've played a little on an emulator but never bothered to actually get like Miracle Adventure of Esparks on GB(JP), Alterest Space, the list goes on. It's kind of why I try and help with GB stuff as I'm familiar with quite a bit of it.

It does have a few notes on it since it's a paste off a text file I made. I did mark stuff I'd never buy again, starred games I bought used back in the day or even a few recently too for a first time, and unstarred retail 90s.
