Exactly. Though not so much with video games.

I think of video games as skulls in a pile beneath my feet. Every game beaten is another skull to the pile. Some skulls are bigger than others, some skulls are better than others, but all are tossed in the pile.

Video games.
And the folks with the biggest piles and the best skulls? Those are the old hands, gamers of myth and gods among men. Precious few in number, but the gamers you want backing you as you build your pile to the sky and make the filthy lesser people worship you with awe in their eyes as they begin their quest to build their own piles and stake out their place in gaming legend.

There are quite a few guys here with lots of skulls, though some of the best skulls remain in the hands of the few. The 7th Saga skull. The GRIN GRAW skull. The System Shock 2 skull. The Might & Magic skull. The Ultima skull. The skulls if Wizardry. The hideous SNES Pit-Fighter skull, which makes children weep and animals howl in fear.

Get yourself more skulls!

It makes me wonder if anyone around here has beaten an Etrian Odyssey game other than myself and sir Popo. And if anyone around here has beaten a King's Field game other than me? Those are some pretty rough skulls to get. They won't even hang on a wall because they're too damn heavy.

King's Field IV skull. I had to leave the thing on the beach.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

He doesn't come around anymore, but as I recall BurningDoom was a big King's Field fan. He finished a couple of them I believe, though damned if I remember which ones.

He had beaten King's Field II, III, and IV. I don't think he had ever played the Japan-only one though.

Hmm, I wonder if he beat King's Field III: Pilot Style (it's a tiny but official KF game) or any of the Shadow Tower games. I wish that dude was still around.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

I don't think so. At least, he hadn't as of 2013. He posted a list that year of everything he had ever beaten. Shadow Tower wasn't on it, and he gave the US names for the three King's Field games on it.

He also had some...issues with a few members. He never quite seemed to understand the jokes we would make and always felt folks were picking on him(or others) as a result. He constantly complained about elitism too.

Skulls for the skull throne!

Don't forget the Ultraman skull, the most precious skull of all.

 Well in his defense, there's definitely some elitism going on in some sects of the forum. But really, it comes with the territory. Snooty is as snooty plays.

I am happy to have the Ultraman: Towards the Future skull and will never play that game ever again.

Sure, sure, but he complained about it constantly as part of the whole "not getting the joke" thing. Like he would complain about it whenever we would laugh about noise and the Deftones in the metal thread. And then he would basically be elitist back and start bashing folks while the rest of us were all trying to explain the joke to him.

If I ever bored enough to work on a video game I will find a way to shoehorn in every sound effect from Ultraman into it.
