Basically, the Mode 7 field is just that, a field, and cannot have any height so they would need to use sprites. But the SNES has no scaling capabilities and it can only display a small amount of sprites at the same time so using sprites wasn't a great option hence painting them on the ground

Makes me not want to play it:
Wizardry V (FMT/SNES)
I'm surprised at this since I don't think Wizardry V is bad-looking on the SNES and while the wireframe dungeons in the FMT version are dissapointing, I don't think they look bad, either.
Space Hulk (AMI/PC)
What sucks about this one is that they made a new port of the boardgame and it looks pretty bad too. The fact that it doesn't show dice rolls and such is also a huge problem.
The fact that Space Hulk is amazingly good-looking in real life also makes this one very dissapointing.
Superfrog
There's a remake for this, but it's an aful game so I wouldn't bother XD
Still, I think something interesting about this thread is how different people perceive graphics. For example, I don't have a problem with
Ultima Underworld, it's "nice retro" for me while I really can't stand blurry textures.
