That's about right. Neo Ex Death and the two optional bosses are not kidding around. They are drastically harder than the enemies in any other classic FF game, and it you're like me, you will need to pull out all the stops to defeat them.

That's like the first law of game design Ack: "If a game is being a dick to its players, it's 100% on purporse"

Eh, Neo Exdeath isn't too bad. But you're right about the two optional bosses.

Though both optional bosses can be utterly cheesed out if you know what you're doing.

I am having the best time with Metroid right now. Seriously. I love this game. In one sense I wish I'd had this growing up, but in another I'm having such a good time as an adult that I really wouldn't want to change the way it's worked out.

I've gotten the hang of how it works in regards to searching every nook and cranny for secret passages; in the beginning I hadn't realized that the crux of the game lay in discovering hidden paths and didn't know to be so thorough. Well, I love this kind of thoroughness. It's why I talk to NPCs at least twice in every JRPG village each time I'm in town, and why I use the Mako like a fine-toothed planet-scouring comb. I get the biggest thrill out of finding stuff -- and Metroid is pretty much Finding Stuff: The Game.

Also, I'm basically an unstoppable wall-busting, alien-smashing machine at this point.

Equipment:
-- Maru Mari (bowling ball)
-- Bomb
-- Long Beam
-- Ice Beam (got this twice? or something?)
-- High Jump
-- Screw Attack
-- Varia (better armor)
-- 4x Energy Tanks
-- 130+ Missile Rockets (not sure what my max is right now!)

Mini-Boss Beaten:
-- Kraid

Pretty sure I'm hot on Ridley's trail. These guys are not subtle with their decorating.

Just gotta find that elevator again and I'm on my way.

Silent Hill
I'm out of the school! It wasn't too bad after I figured out I had max pistol ammo (with a fair amount hanging around) so I started using that more. I used the shotgun for the boss though and it was pretty easy.

Problem is, I have no clue on what to do now ><; I know I'm supposed to go to the church, and I have a weird key, but all the pathways to the church are blocked off. Plus I have no clue what to do with the key... I wandered around for quite a while but couldn't figure anything out unfortunately :l

Well, now Ridley's gone, too.

I've got Samus slowly roasting her health away in the lavas of Brinstar so that I can grab a password and call it quits for the night. It's just about time to activate that bridge to Tourian, and I don't want to venture forth until my husband is present for the occasion.

It'll be really interesting to look at a full map when I'm done with the game. I find myself wondering where the Wave Beam is, how I've managed to miss it, and how different things might have been if I'd picked it up. Unless it's in Tourian somewhere. Hmm.

I really have no idea what to expect in there. So intriguing.

You missed it. The only thing about it is it fires through terrain, which mostly doesn't matter but can be used to try and cheese Kraid (hide in the lava constantly jumping so it doesn't tick and slowly kill him), and you need the ice beam for Tourian anyway.

My summer list so far:

Castlevania Bloodlines | Genesis | 1994
Echo Night | PS1 | 1998
King's Field (AKA King's Field II in Japan) | PS1 | 1995
Mega Man X4 | PS1 | 1997
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers | Saturn (3DS) | 1997

Middle of June already, so I need to get cracking. I consider the summer over come September 1st, so I've only got a little over two months to finish this stuff. I think it's doable. I'm going to start King's Field (KFII-J) tonight. Really looking forward to it, considering how much I loved the original King's Field and King's Field IV. Both of those games were something truly special and immersive, fantastic dungeon crawls indeed.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

Woo, more King's Field from you! I'm looking forward to hearing more about your adventures in a series I know very little about.

I'm also looking forward to hearing about your experience with Echo Night. I loved Echo Night Beyond but have yet to try the first one.
