Final Fantasy Started going downhill fast with part VII.
This minigame crap in VIII is embarrassing.

I haven't played my copy of PSIII, but I agree with everything else.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Final Fantasy Started going downhill fast with part VII.

I liked FFVIII, thank you very much.
I barely touched Triple Triad, for what it's worth.

Triple Triad sucks. Any game where you have to watch who you play because of bullshit rule changes is not a good game.
And Blitzball sucks too.
Final Fantasy V
I made it to the second world over the weekend. Currently I'm sitting in King Galuf's castle, about to go out into his world and get to a valley to save his pet dragon.
But that isn't what interests you. What interests you is the job stuff. After the conversations we had last week, I decided to spread Galuf around in the caster business, and he's now got a few ranks in White Mage, Black Mage, Time Mage, Summoner, and Blue Wizard. I also had him as a Hunter long enough to get him good with bows, so I can equip a bow while a caster and keep him in the back row with some physical offense. In the meantime I went on a Blue Magic kick and now have over half of them in the game.
Faris helped a lot, after I trained her as a Mediator long enough to get the Control ability. That has made some of those super enemies significantly easier to fight. I also switched Faris through several physical fighter classes, like Knight, Monk, and Mystic Knight, but she is now my Thief.
Reena was my Thief...until she mastered the job. Now she is close to mastering Monk, and as soon as she finishes, I'll put her back into White Mage and work on that.
Finally, Bartz remains more physically oriented. He is on the final levels of both Knight and Mystic Knight, but I decided to mix things up a bit, and he is currently running around as a Ninja. I did go ahead and master Geomancer with him for the innate abilities.
Now that I have a couple of characters who have started to master jobs, and I have discovered the much lauded basement full of statues, I'm thinking I should go for a big push on mastering a couple for everyone.
And Blitzball sucks too.

This entirely optional mini game? I haven't encountered any forced mini games at all in this one, which is more than I can say for VII.
For what it's worth, I love IX, X and XII, and I'm really enjoying VIII aswell. VII is the weak link in my eyes.
It's readily apparent that most RPGs post 1996 aren't your thing though.

Hey I'll have you know that I enjoy Breath of Fire III, Dark Law: Meaning of Death, The Granstream Saga, Shining Force III, and Shinsetsu Samurai Spirits: Bushidō Retsuden - all of which were released in 1997!

BOFIII is amazing and the best in the series.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Hey I'll have you know that I enjoy Breath of Fire III, Dark Law: Meaning of Death, The Granstream Saga, Shining Force III, and Shinsetsu Samurai Spirits: Bushidō Retsuden - all of which were released in 1997!

Wow. I have never disagreed with you more than I do right now. BoF III is good looking trash. BoF I walks all over it.Ack wrote:BOFIII is amazing and the best in the series.
Although, BoF III does have an awesome OST.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: Summer Games Challenge 2015
Sorry chief, but BoF and BoF II pale in comparison to BoF III for me. BoF III feel better balanced, provides a more interesting dragon power system, offers an apprentice system that I really liked, gave me replayability after taking out the final boss, and had a roster that I liked to switch between. Sure, there are some stinkers(Momo), but I much preferred everything else. Also, better fishing mini game.Exhuminator wrote:Wow. I have never disagreed with you more than I do right now. If I had to rank them, I'd go:
BoF III
BoF
BoF II
Everything else I haven't played.

Re: Summer Games Challenge 2015
Hey you're welcome to your own opinion. I found BoF III to have a laundry list of faults. The worst being long load times for the constant random battles, way too many fetch quests, and a plot that sizzled out long before the game was over. It does have great graphics though and that wonderful jazzy OST.Ack wrote:Sorry chief, but BoF and BoF II pale in comparison to BoF III for me.
