How do you get the Buster Upgrade without the helmet from Storm Eagle? I do the same order but slot Storm Eagle before Flame Mammoth. So you get boots, helmet, buster (and you get to use weakness on Mammoth), then begin following the weakness chain.o.pwuaioc wrote:My order:

Also, MMX imo is way, way, way better than MMX4*, though I'll give ya that MMX4 is better than MMX2 or MMX3. MMX6 is also an underrated game.

Hm, you must be right. Memory must be foggy. Looks like that's a good reason to replay this.MrPopo wrote:How do you get the Buster Upgrade without the helmet from Storm Eagle? Re: Together Retro: Mega Man X
I tried to do it by memory. Downed penguin, eagle, elephant, ape, armadillo, and octopus. Picked up some hearts and a couple tanks along the way. If I remember correctly I need to fight the boomerang guy next.
Got all the upgrades except armor which I believe is on some crazy timed jump off the mine cart. Failed to get it because I've been resisting the urge to YouTube. I may just beat it without on this run just to prove to myself that I've still got the skills. Password saved for tomorrow.
I will say though that this game is a cakewalk. I put up a few hours into MM6 the other night without realizing TR was MMX this month and the difficulty doesn't even compare.

Having only played Megaman X4 on the Saturn, but never beating it, I am eager to play. This will be a nice break from the summer games challenge and can't wait to see what all the hooplah is about.

Re: Together Retro: Mega Man X
While I prefer the originals, the X games are great.
Been a long time since I've played any of them though. I'm thinking I'll probably just revisit 1 for now.

Re: Together Retro: Mega Man X
All I did last night was the little intro level. Well that and installing it haha.
My plan is to just play a level per night to sort of stretch things out and pace myself. So I guess I'll be going after Chill Penguin tonight if I recall.

Re: Together Retro: Mega Man X
Yeah I started with Chill Penguin first incidentally that was the right decision as you get the sliding boots, which are absolutely essential. Beat him very easily enough and then tried the octopus dude and couldn't even get to him. Got a lot of work ahead of me.noiseredux wrote:All I did last night was the little intro level. Re: Together Retro: Mega Man X
The route I usually took was this:
Chill Penguin
Storm Eagle
Spark Mandrill
Boomer Kuwanger
Sting Chameleon
Armored Armadillo
Launch Octopus
Flame Mammoth
Some of this will vary, but for some reason, I always end with Flame Mammoth.

Here's a challenge for you guys (I'll be doing this one this evening)
- Armored Armadillo
- Spark Mandrill
- Flame Mammoth
- Storm Eagle
- Sting Chameleon
- Boomer Kuwanger
- Launch Octopus
- Chill Penguin
..and then Sigma, go:
With no stage revisits, I estimate this gives at least 2 Energy Tanks, the Boots, the Buster (after Sigma stage 1) and two heart expansions. Should be doable but also solve the 'This is way too easy' problems.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
