Well there is that thing in Tourian that needs 30 missile hits to kill... so stocking up is a good idea.

I find this a fun game to mess around with, but very challenging to actually finish. Good luck!
So you are saying I should replace it with Super Metroid?

Give Daggy a try. It's a neat game and one of the earliest RPGs with real-time action-oriented combat. It may look like Akalabeth, but it plays waaaay differently.

You could always switch to Super Metroid should you not like it. I ended up dropping one of my games last year (Fantasy Zone) and replacing it with another.

Oh, and I have to agree with Ex's comments regarding Final Fantasy V...... The job system is "cool" but the game itself is kind of dull. It's easily the worst of the SNES trio.

And Metroid. That was one of my Summer 2014 games. So good. I enjoyed playing it on the GBA because I was able to save. A shame that feature was stripped from the NES game (you can save in the FDS original).

You're talking about the Zebetites, and I believe it's that they require a certain number of hits in a certain amount of time. The nice thing is killing Ridley and Kraid gives you a ton of missiles, so that's really all you need.

Mapping is a good idea, but it is hard to do because of the smooth scrolling. It's not like mapping out Wizardry where you move in discrete steps.

Speaking of maps, this is the kind of horror show that ensues when I make the attempt:

Phantasy Star III (mostly first and second generation):

(mostly third generation):

And I didn't even include the dungeon maps where I royally screwed things up so much that I wrote stuff like "do not attempt navigation w/ migraine," "ugh I hate mapping this place I quit," and "BAH!!" in the margins.

Yup. Enjoy, Bogus.

Nope. I'm talking about something in the game that takes exactly 30 missiles to destroy.

Don't look at that Key-Glyph.

Also, Key-Glyph, I think you're perfectly capable of beating Metroid without a FAQ or internet provided map. You can do it.

Key, I recommend when you get to Tourian that you play it late at night in a dark room. That place always scared the hell out of me as a kid because the music plus the graphics told you "you do NOT want to be here".

Nice job! I still need to take that one on myself.

P.S. You know you can link to a specific post, right?
