Agreed. X is definitely easier than any of the NES games. The last boss is challenging, however, and the final boss in X4 is harder than the last boss in any of the NES Mega Man games (but still easier than the last boss in Mega Man 7).Ack wrote:Definitely.MrPopo wrote:I'd say that X is easier than the NES games.

I spent so much time on the last boss of X4 as X. It wasn't nearly as bad as Zero (but everything else in the game was harder, so it even sout).

Wall jumping and dashing make the platforming exponentially easier.I'd say that X is easier than the NES games.
I'd argue that the X series' bosses are tougher though.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: Together Retro: Mega Man X
Megaman X is definitely harder if you hit Chill Penguin last. Then you're essentially playing as Megaman (plus wall climbing) against Bosses designed with X's dash ability in mind.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Good luck on Storm Eagle with that madness.

I've done it on Storm Eagle before. When I do a legless run I usually start with Armored Armadillo and work my way from there. The real problem is Spike Mandrill. He's so huge and fast that beating him without the ice cannon is hard enough, never mind the dash boots. I'll usually just tank him with E-Tanks.MrPopo wrote:Good luck on Storm Eagle with that madness.

I forgot I have that too. Tried to put it in my Win7 PC and it wouldn't work, some error about 64 bit systems and Windows compatibility. I tried running in XP compatablity mode but it didn't work. I'm too lazy/busy to figure it out. When you do can you please enlighten menoiseredux wrote:Mega Man X is by far my favorite Mega Man game. I replayed it so many times back in the day. I'll be playing the Windows port this month. I'll start as soon as it arrives at my door.

lulz. Will do. I hate to say I get a sort of sick joy out of figuring out how to get old games to run on new hardware. I'm fairly certain it was released around the same time as the Puzzle Fighter port, so must be Windows 95. I got that to run with very little effort.SpaceBooger wrote: I forgot I have that too. Ok, so MMX on the Collection. Few things to note from the original:
- Music doesn't loop, it stops after a certain point and starts over again. That's gonna take some getting used to.
- None of the slowdown/pauses in the action present on the SNES.
- Passwords are displayed (and can be entered) but game can also be saved after every stage.
- I read somewhere that this entire collection outputs in 240p, so be sure to play this on a CRT, which I am doing.

When I played through the Anniversary Collection, the biggest victories came to me in completing the final areas of MM7 & MM8, each with very little health left. X4 can be as hard as it wants to be, but nothing will top 7 & 8.prfsnl_gmr wrote:(but still easier than the last boss in Mega Man 7)
After getting the boots first, of course. That's how I always start.SNESdrunk wrote:I used to start on Storm Eagle
