Congrats, Bone! GnG is a beast, and your experiences with it mirror mine. (I played through it on Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 1 (PS2) several years ago.)

Nick Arcade did a Ghosts n' Goblins endgame with some contestants once, right?

Also, Prinny. Hee hee. Did she look like this?

All the episodes are on youtube:

The end game was always the chroma keyed one. But they often played odd arcade games, usually ran off Amiga 4000s if I remember correctly.

Super Ghouls n' Ghosts isn't actually that hard imo. It's pretty great too. You should definitely play it.

Ghouls and Super Ghouls are both included on Reloaded. I'll get to 'em one day.

Ghouls 'n Ghosts is, IMO, the easiest game in the series. It is also a lot of fun. I have to disagree with alienjesus, however, regarding Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts. I have always considered it the hardest.

Also...you may also want to check out Maximo: Ghosts to Glory (PS2). It has aged remarkably well, and it does a great job translating classic Ghosts 'n Goblline gameplay to 3D space. (Moreover, and despite its reputation, it really isn't that hard.)

Ugh, personally I hated this when I gave it a shot. Something about the controls just refused to mesh with me. I never did beat it as a result.

I really liked it, and I thought it controlled wonderfully. The double jump was great, and the game has some nice touches - such as your sword sticking in wooden surfaces - that add to the difficulty. Moreover, the last few levels are full of fire pits, spikes, swinging blades, buzz saws, etc. in a way that just screams classic video gaming.

I have actually only played 2 games in the series. Super Ghouls n' Ghosts was pretty easy once you learnt the patterns for the platforming parts (particularly on the lava level) and Ultimate Ghouls n Ghosts on PSP was relentlessly unfair and stupendously hard, and not at all fun to play. I've not tried Ghosts n' Goblins or Ghouls n' Ghosts

I liked Army of Zin a lot more. The difficulty curve is a bit more relaxed, and combat felt a bit smoother as well. I never did finish Maximo, though.
