I'm not sure if I should play Dune 2000 since there's (according to Wikipedia) a different plot. Do you think these plot differences will matter? For what it's worth, I've read the book.
Empire at War is a pretty decent Star Wars RTSish. All the combat is real time, but there's a turn based overall view and once in combat you have a fixed number of assets based on what you did in the turn based portion.
I actually have a copy of Empire at War that I bought back in '08, so that's on my "To Play List." But before I played that, I thought I'd play Galactic Battlegrounds. Then I thought "Why not just play all three Star Wars RTSes starting with Force Commander?"

Figured I'd mess around on Google and see if there were any notable online retro stores I may have missed. Long story short the entire first page of results were online stores with terrible websites/worse than eBay prices. The prices don't even bother me as much as just how bad the sites are. Just abhorrent.

I know about (and posted in) that thread from earlier this year, but I'm thinking about playing some Star Wars RTSes (maybe with Force Commander for shits and giggles) or maybe going further back with Dune 2.
The original or the sequel? I never played the original and wonder how it holds up?

bad website = no buying
My problem with small businesses is that you never know if the guy operating the website is still around. I have seen websites on the internet that look like its from 2001. Probably the guy who built it paid for 10-12 years of hosting.

And let's narrow it down to just not having to worry about physical violence (we can extend the protection later once we have a solid foundation).
How about gov. protection? If someone takes any action against you or treats you any differently then you can sue him if its an organisation or call police if he is a person. They already have this with restraining order.

I think it's time to create a stand alone OT thread for all this free speech debatey stuff.

Dear Final Fantasy Type-0,

I really want to like you. But why you make me grind? You know I don't like to grind. Let's stop making me grind 14 characters at once to handle missions tiered in artificially difficult ways thanks to staggered level requirements. I came for sick ass CG and panties, not grinding.

Your pal,

Exhuminator

PS rly no moar grindu 'k thx

Well, the plot in the games is like someone read the Cliff's Notes of the Cliff's Notes and then picked a few points from that and built a game around it fleshing things out with their own ideas. The story in 2000 is incredibly weak; C&C this is not.

Clearly fake. The story is set in Colorado but talks about vehicle speed in KPH.

Not sure if you're serious or not. The story I linked to was using that measurement of speed because that online publication is not based in the USA. The story that it cites though uses MPH as the speed basis:

http://www.9news.com/story/local/2013/07/27/1870872/

If you watch the video there, towards the end, the reporter mentions the kid said he learned a little about driving from Mario Kart.

I just thought it was a cool story. Most the time kids just learn how to beat up hookers and shoot cops in video games.

The original StarCraft. I think it holds up pretty well. I'm not too knowledgeable about Real Time Strategy games; StarCraft and Empire Earth II are the only ones I remember beating. I've played StarCraft (obviously), the Star Wars RTSes, WarHammer 40K Dawn of War, Rome: Total War, a freeware game called Trash, Age of Mythology, and maybe a couple others I don't recall. With that laid out, I say that StarCraft is a killer RTS.

Well fuck, I won't worry about the plot then. Thanks for clearing that up.

EDIT: I suppose that's understandable since the book is pretty long, political, and very dense.

So i heard that rayman legends has a bunch of levels from origins. That means i can skip origins?

Also how normal is that my DS (lite) only last about 5-6 hours with a R4?
