Boney M, please tell me you also have the Saturn version.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I'm getting a bit better at OutRun. I'm still pretty crappy, but better.
I have the game on Genesis, Sega Master System, and Commodore 64 - in other words, the three-button, two-button, and one-button versions.![]()
I played a little of the C64 port about an hour ago. I am terrible at it.

Re: Summer Games Challenge 2015
Blah.
I had a frustrating night of gaming where I made a lot of progress but still couldn't complete anything.
I finally cleared another trouble spot in Earthworm Jim (Snot a Problem Round 3) and made it to Intestinal Distress, only to get wiped out by the boss of that level. It seems easy to get him into a loop, and then he'll suddenly change it. He jumps and moves so much faster than Jim does that once he escapes me, I get caught in his attacks and stunned until I die. Very frustrating way to end that one tonight.
I've also been playing Ghouls'N Ghosts, and I was able to loop the game and make it back to the final level (a exhausting process by the way) only to find that its not enough to complete the stages twice, you have do so with the special weapon, which I did not know.
So the game sent me back to the beginning of the last level again. Which beats starting the whole game over, but by that point I was both tired and jumpy from frustration, so much so that I just couldn't make any headway and I had to shut it off.
Oy. Maybe tomorrow.

Do you have the GBA version on the Sega Arcade Gallery collection? Stick that in your Retron, pretty accurate version all told. Nothing tops the Saturn though.

I'm considering jumping on the Earthworm Jim bandwagon with you. Good idea Y/N?CFFJR wrote:I finally cleared another trouble spot in Earthworm Jim (Snot a Problem Round 3) and made it to Intestinal Distress...
Metroid was slated to be next, but I'm putting it off because my navigator is not able to sit in on the action this weekend.

Off to an entertaining start. I jumped into 7th Guest last night and have already cleared 6 of the 21 puzzles. Most of them have been easy so far, especially the cake, the spiders, and that heart valve one, but the bishop pieces? That one made absolutely no sense, and I eventually just managed to brute force the whole thing. I still don't understand the rules for why they move the way they do. I have yet to venture into the basement, but I've seen the maze on the carpet and already written down the instructions for getting to the end.
So far, I have a mixed opinion of 7th Guest. It's basically a puzzle game with some horror aspects that was meant to show off cutting edge technology at the time. It has not aged well, and some of the things it is missing are absolutely aggravating, like unskippable cutscenes(I have seen the intro before), the lack of audio options so I can adjust the volume(it goes from silence to screaming in half a second), or the ability to turn on subtitles. Still, there is a quirky campiness to it, and I like that the story unfolds in bits and pieces which can be seen out of order. As of right now, I have at least two puzzles available that I need to clear to advance, but I'm watching my progress on the map to see which rooms are done.

He could also go with 3D OutRun. It is supposed to be fantastic. The Genesis version is fine if you don't have the Saturn or GBA versions, however.Sload Soap wrote:Do you have the GBA version on the Sega Arcade Gallery collection? .....
I defeated the Zone 3 boss in Blaster Master last night, and I travelled all the way back to Zone 4 this morning. So far, I am enjoying the game, but I do not think I would be able to beat it without the PSP's sleep function. (I simply do not have time to play through a game of this length in one sitting.) The game needed a password system desperately, and I cannot fathom why SunSoft did not include one.
Otherwise, the game is fine. The graphics are spectacular, and think it is one of the best- and cleanest-looking games on the NES. The hit detection is a little spotty in the overhead sections (i.e., where it really counts), however, and all of the enemies are very "SunSofty". (That is, they are well-animated, monochrome, and unidentifiable, and they move very quickly in wild patterns.) The bosses are great, however, and they are very challenging. I suspect I have my work cut out for me in the final parts of the game, and I am very happy the game features unlimited continues.

I'd say its a great idea!Key-Glyph wrote:I'm considering jumping on the Earthworm Jim bandwagon with you. Good idea Y/N?CFFJR wrote:I finally cleared another trouble spot in Earthworm Jim (Snot a Problem Round 3) and made it to Intestinal Distress...

Despite my whining (all in fun), Jim has been pleasantly challenging and incredibly fun. Join the party.
Which version were you planning to play?

Re: Summer Games Challenge 2015
I don't have GBA version of OutRun either. And that compilation is a touch expensive, unfortunately.
But yeah, I'll start with Gen and move onto some other ports if I really end up enjoying it. Which I don't think will happen. The game certainly hasn't "clicked" with me yet - and I generally don't enjoy games that rely so heavily on memorization and lightning-quick reflexes.

I'm almost positive that Blaster Master has limited continues. I used a Game Genie back in the day to bypass that issue.
