Re: Summer Games Challenge 2015

So I have started to figure out my order of attack for this summer.

I plan to open with Loom in May, while also running through Descent in co-op with fastbilly. Once Loom is out of the way, I will likely start on Ultima and/or 7th Guest, while moving to System Shock 2 with fastbilly once we clear Descent. 7th Guest will be followed by Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.

I am hoping this takes up May, because once June rolls around, I am planning to hit up Mortal Kombat 2 and Final Fantasy V. I want to make heavy progress into FFV and hopefully clear MK2 before moving on to Lost Levels and Dracula X in mid- to late June or early July. If I have not knocked out a good chunk of my initial burst, however, I will hold off on FFV until July and work on all of the others, so I can focus on it almost exclusively towards the end.

Of course, all of this is heavily dependent on whether I burn out quick and go off to play whatever I feel like. If that happens, well, I may return to the list but only to complete 5 like I originally intended.

1. Final Fantasy V
2. System Shock 2
3. Descent
4. Ultima
5. Loom

6. 7th Guest
7. Mortal Kombat 2
8. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
9. Super Mario Bros. 2: The Lost Levels
10. Castlevania: Dracula X

Just make a list so we can debate whether the games are classics. You don't actually have to play through any of them.

When you do get to Final Fantasy V please post as much as you can about it; the great thing about that game is you can play it very shallowly and have fun or you can get really deep into the mechanics and have fun. If you get frustrated let us know; there's probably a trick you can use to get past that part.

I adore FFV. It's up in my top 3 Final Fantasy games, and it's easily one of my favourite RPGs on SNES.

I agree. FFV is great. I am not sure I prefer it to FFVI, but it is probably the second best game in the series. (With regard to gameplay mechanics, however, it is certainly the best.)

I have not played FFVI, but I prefer V to Chrono Trigger (which is still great). I think I like Earthbound more though.

FFIV and Mario RPG I think are pretty meh though, so my SNES RPG opinions might not be the norm.

I feel like IV was great for the time, but it got outshined in mechanics by V and story by VI. But you're completely wrong about Super Mario RPG.

Actually, I much prefer FFIV to Mario RPG

Mario RPG is the biggest disappointment I've had playing a game in a long long time.

Like I said, your opinion is bad and you should feel bad.

My opinion, as always, is absolutely and totally correct, and it is a travesty that people are out there who don't realise it
