I think I can understand how someone would like it. Heck, one of my favorite movies ever is "Super Mario Bros.: The Movie".
I'm too new here to feel comfortable threadjacking, so I'll hold off on criticizing "Cloverfield" in any detail.
"Crank" had a couple of minutes of first-person at the beginning of the film. I'm sure most people on the forum have seen it, but if anyone want to see an example of a film with a strong video game influence, including strong retrogaming influences, it's definitely worth watching. It is definitely much more of a video game film than any video-game-titled movie I've ever seen.
