Played some of this, this morning. The transition to a fiery landscape in the first level is pretty sweet, but otherwise I just don't get these games. For one, this game is pretty choppy (which may be the emulation) and two, I just get frustrated by the gameplay. I want it to be Mario, which it isn't, but I can't get my brain to not think that way.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

Re: Together Retro: Sonic & Knuckles
Choppy is certainly not a word I'd use to describe any of the Genesis Sonic games so I'm hoping it's the emulation.
I feel a lot of people when approaching the Sonic games expect Mario's physics, which it obviously doesn't have. I always felt Sonic was more informed by the Vic Tokai platformers like Kid Kool and Psycho Fox (though massively improved and downplayed) with their heavy focus on mastering momentum.
I can understand people being put off by expecting Mario since it impossible to avoid the comparison, but in my mind it's never been the same thing.

I think that's largely why the series was popular. I loved it BECAUSE it wasn't Mario, and all of Sega's advertising focused on that during the console war.Stark wrote: I want it to be Mario, which it isn't, but I can't get my brain to not think that way.

Choppy? Yeah right...
No emulators allowed.
And yeah, what Gunstar and Gamerforlife said above, thank goodness it's not Mario.

Re: Together Retro: Sonic & Knuckles
You can actually use tails' flight ability as Sonic + Tails in single player. As sonic, if you press the jump button twice, tails will go into his flying mode. Then you just have to aim your jump to connect with him and you should grab on to him and then guide your flight path.dogman91 wrote: I'm not sure if I'm remembering this correctly, but does playing as Tails + Sonic together allow Sonic to cling on to Tails for flight?
edit: Apparently it's only possible in the Multiplayer mode; makes sense.

Re: Together Retro: Sonic & Knuckles
How does one go about using Tails, when I played I saw either Sonic or Knuckles.

You need to have Sonic 3 plugged in for Tails to be available.
